Afternoon boys and girls!

I've been tinkering with my F-15. Again. Trying to decide what configuration I prefer.

I started out with a twin tail and canard type thing -

But now I rather like this -

I'm also toying with the idea of a third engine underneath the tail.

Whaddya all think?

No, before anyone asks, there is no back story. I'm sure a vaugley feasible one could be hammered out, though  :)

Lookin good

Perhaps 2 smaller delta wings, and add twin tail booms leading to a tail section moved further aft?

I like the delta wing and the idea of adding a third engine. Trimotors rock!

Have you considered a winter camo scheme?

Brian da Basher

P.S. Mr Howling Mouse would want me to suggest a T-tail.

The Cat a.k.a Meowbag

If I stuck a T-tail on it, it'd just be a Javelin for the new millenium.

Unless I did it with three engines, something like this (excuse the shoddy photoshopping btw)

but with a T-tail. That'd end up being a huge tail section, so I'd need the huge delta wings. Which is a bonus, as I think they look ace.

Drian da spatman for got to suggest spats B)

Shasper

Would be a good idea to keep 2 fins, maybe add the stabs onto these?

stabs? *looks confused*

I'm now trying to figure out the best way of getting another engine (or two :D ) onto it.

Captain Canada

I like your first one better.....the second pic looks too old, as in technologically speaking.

Now, that three engine photoshop you did looks bloddy awesome !

I was sitting there, staring at this model, and a nasty little thought entered my head.

Buy another F-15, build the fuselage, and then lop it clean in two down the middle and attach the two halves either side of the current fuselage for a ... four engined job

I like the three engined job, but I can't work out how to knock up a convincing third engine, and the thought of butchering two 15's into one (F-30?   ) seems like a blast  B)  Pretty sure it's been done on here somewhere before, though.

Edit - Ooooo .... four engines, canards, and a twin tail! That'd be a beast of a 'plane

AeroplaneDriver

I'm not a fan of the 3-engine concept, so I wont comment on that idea, but as for the wing layout...have you considered either a flying wing with no vertical fin, or twin fins out at the wingtips?
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

The Cat a.k.a Meowbag

Hadn't thought about wingtip fins, rather like that. Especially if I did the four engined layout, that'd look great!

tinlail

Drop the delta wing to the bottom of the fuselage, and put the carnards coming off the top of the intakes.

This one is my prefered...
Plan for the WE : painting this damned F-117C, and start the mega Mirage... a delta wing MiG-25 :)
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

I have been weak. Thanks to late opening model shops and my desire to butcher plastic, I've aquired (about 10 minutes ago) an F-15E. I think, for the size this beasty is going to be, two people will be needed to fly it properly

Going with the 4 engines, quite like the delta dropped to the bottom of the fuselage, might do that. Going to knock up the second 15 now. Cya tomorrow everyone and thanks for the ideas/comments! B)

Ollie

Yeap, I prefer the cranked wing.
