When we moved in the Spring, one of the 'rules' that Mrs. Hunter-Gatherer laid down was; 'No airbrushing in the house' especially with the baby on-the-way. Fair enough, I thought, I'll convert the loft, after all it is plenty roomy up there. Then we got a quote..... £20K minimum  :o

In the summer whilst we were out and about I saw the perfect substitute. All it needed was buying, building and power. Well as you can see it's built and painted - sorry I don't know the FS. numbers - the power isn't in yet, I'm running the compressor and lights from a 15m extension cable running from the kitchen....

First model produced from the new facility was the Skyray, there's also a non-WhIf Bf109 drying just out of shot. Just thought I'd share and annoy NARSES2 at the same time  ;) .

Wow ... that is quality!

Don't even have an airbrush, let alone somewhere that good to use it!  :(

Just wait till the wife find out how well plants grow in there in ´the winter :P

Radish

You need power for heating and lighting and the ghetto blaster, plus of course a lock to keep the women out. But then again, if it's only for painting...OK.

I was talking to an old school friend today over coffee and her husband has THREE SHEDS!! Bonkers!!

funny, i was thinking the very same thing lol.

My work space is in the loft, ive had skylights fitted and an extra strip light put in, other wise its still a loft. The garden is considered a no go zone when mums about, thats HER domain. Dad had to realy beg to get "his" shed witch is now full of mums gardening stuff.

No real need for a full on conversion. I did look into a proper conversion, but changed my mind when the quote totaled more than 2 years pay. I owe the banks enought allready.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Mmm....plants. Just don't get caught !

What about humidity ? Won't you have a problem with that out there ? Or do you have a de-humidifier on the go ? When I used to paint in my garage, I'd get loads of water spots fecking up my finishes....

Love the camo...too cool ! Congrats, Ian ! But it sounds like all you blokes need to learn how to swing a hammer, and start doing your own renos !

Not a simple renovation Toad-San - Our attic is proportionately close to the bigger of Liverpools' cathedrals  :o ...... and the building regs here are as tuff as hell - Snap inspections by council surveyors and very close scrutiny of the original plans all are 'par for the course'.

If you want it done right, then you got to invest heavily...... Since we took-out the mortgage for just fifteen years, then unless Caroline goes back to work full-time from this Monday, the loft cnversion just isn't practical/affordable  :( .

As for moisture in the shed - not a problem yet - I leave the door open a wee bit to create a draft which seemes to work. However the whole 'atmosphere' will change during the warmer months.

I s'pose you could say that we're very much at the lower end of the learning curve at the moment !

NARSES is a strong believer that a whiffers work place can ONLY be messy :P  ^_^

and only whiffers have clean/tidy workplaces

Come on guys, give the man a chance.  Even the messiest modeler (me) couldnt make a mess of a nice new shed so quickly.

It really is a nice srtup you've got there Ian!

Snappy looking booth you have there.  Can see you eventually doing more than just *painting* models out there.  Will be a nice place to watch Melissa running around (before you know it) in your yard while slapping down a coat of paint.

Will you eventually throw in some form of brushless motor exhaust fan on the far wall to extract airbrush fumes?

The camo is priceless, btw!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
