Well spent a good portion of yesterday back on THIS bundle of joy :( .
So by the math if the rule is has to be already 45% complete, and this is a Vac-form and the bulk of the work on those is cutting, sanding, and prepping the parts I reckon this one must 123% done  That only leaves 72% of the work still to do <_<
AAAARRRGGGHHHHHHH

So right now she's sitting with globs of two part epoxy putty on her waiting for , oh yeah MORE SANDING! I tells ya 3M are getting rich off me withh all the sandpaper I've bought for this thing.

Got one side of the tail cut up to try and slide the horizontal stabiliser in but I can't seem to get it to fit. Thought it was probably best to put the parts together before I did the other side, I've got a feeling I'm gonna have to end up cutting the whole top off the rudder dumping the stabiliser on, then putting the top back on. Oh gee don't see any strength or alignment problems in my future

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Hi my names Leigh and I'm addicted to P.S.R.

( Hi Leigh)

It started off real simple, you know the usual stuff filling a gap here, scribing a line there, doing a BMF or glossy finish, but then well you know, it just got worse. I found I was doing it alot and I mean ALOT! I really didn't think I had a problem at first, thought I was maybe doing a bit more than my mates but nothing that wasn't normal, they kept telling me to back off a little, build some Tamiya or Hasegawa, maybe even Fujimi, but I couldn't stop myself and kept finding the Airfix, Matchbox, MPM stuff in my hands, I thought they were just wankers who couldn't handle their models, no one was gonna tell me what to do, I was gonna build like a man, I'd show them. Then I found that the dodgy kits weren't enough, I needed more so I started scratchbuilding, putting the wrong engines and wings on stuff so that I'd have to putty to make it blend in.
At this point I thought maybe I was doing a bit too much, that I should slow down some, even thought I had it under control for a while, tried limiting myself to 1/48 Airfix Spitfires, but I was trying to do it alone and I was bound to slip without help. Then someone suggested I try an Airfix TSR.2. Well after seeing that wing step I said "screw this, if I'm gonna P.S.R. I'm gonna do it right, none of this lightweight stuff for me"
That was when it got really bad, I pulled out a Vac-Form, I was really on the hard stuff now and well it just spiralled down from there. Some of you guys know once you start hitting the Vacs, well there's nothing left to lose might aswell ride that train to the end. Started using two part epoxy putty and letting it dry out REAL HARD before I tried to shape it. I think I knew I'd reached bottom when I got to cooking my own putty up, you know how that gets when you start mixing up styrene shavings and laquer thinner and slap it all over. That was it I knew I needed to ask for help.
So it's been 45 minutes since my last sanding session and I'm just trying to do it "one day at a time"

Well that feels better!

K Rotodyne will surface for this build but that'll be after the New Year, got this one, two for the girls and possibly the Tsr.@ to get done before Christmas.

This one is also gonna be for my IPMS Schnieder Cup '48 competition so it'll be finished in a snazzy racing scheme. Hmmm high gloss finish. ...... that means................. more ....................... P.S.R.  :(

Hi I'm Leigh and I'm addicted to P.S.R.

(hi Leigh)

It's been two hours since my last sanding session, and well it's hard, but I'm doing a bit better now, I've reached the point where I'm just using correction fluid and 1000 grit sandpaper. I realised a coupla weeks ago that my problem isn't just putty, even if I can keep away from the sanding, I find that I have to over complicate things and scratchbuild too. It's not enough to be building a Vac form with only twelve pieces that is probably more putty and primer than styrene at this point. I get this obsession, I need more, my sponsor says I'm cross addicted and suffer from A.M.S. too. So while I was waiting for my putty to cure I found myself building a tractor for my seaplane too, I don't know how it happened, one minute I was cleaning my brushes and the next thing I found a 1/72 dolly in my hands. I didn't mean to, I just couldn't help myself. I think things might be easier next week, I hope to be working on painting, that should keep the files out of my hand................................ I hope.
Thanks for letting me share.

It's the old Airfix Tractor from the Bofors gun set, dolly was bashed  from the spares box, I think it's actually part of a dolly for a tomcat engine. Now I remember why I don't build armour, god this stuff is fiddly, and detailed, and time consuming. Getting all six wheels to sit on the ground almost drove me nuts. It's not quite done yet but i thought i better show you guys that I still build as well as just being a smartarse :P

K here's a few item of paraphernalia that help with my habit, some of it's probably obvious but it's new to a dummy like me.
Sanding sticks, I love 'em well I found a bunch in the cosmetics aisle of the grocery store only 99 cents each too. Also Mine always seem to get worn out at the ends and not the middle and I throw them away, then I fugured why not just snip the bad end off with some scissors? DUH! :dum:
Learned this trick at my IPMS meeting, fold a piece of sandpaper on some styrofoam from an egg carton, home made sanding stick, great for crevices and wing roots.
Spot sander found in the automotive aisle of Wal-Mart, basically a pen tube filled with glass fibre strands that you twist out to the desired length. This thing is awesome for real tight spots like wheel wells etc, and you can control it just like a pencil, this was a really cool find.

Woah Leigh that's some awesome progress on your Schneider '48 vac and that truck and trailer are real gems!

I look forward to your next update from your P.S.R. Anon. meeting.

Still laughing,

   evil chuckle.
