In my previous thread, i posted pictures of my models, old, new, and stash.
I photographed my "abandoned corner" of models and Nev said:

"Wow, you match anthonyp for productivity comrade!
And keep that Gannet away from Leigh "

and just then, i heard the gannet yelling

¡WHIF ME!, ¡WHIF ME!, ¡WHIF ME!

So i replied:

"Hey Nev, Can you and Leigh give me some guidance, please?.
You see i Want to whif that Gannet you were talking about, say, a multirole embarked aircraft for, um, a third or second world Navy. Roles to fulfill on one same aircraft (with modular/interchangeable equipment):

SAR/Rescue
Maritime Patrol
AWACS (yeah, AWACS)
ASW/ASUW

Thanks.
Rafa "

I intend to Whif the first operational sample of the "Gannet XXI" a fully modernized Gannet, in reality, a new plane, with an uprated turbo prop engine, and equipment like radars, wapons pods, refueling buddy packs, Lamp pods, and the like (i hear your proposals)

Of course this is for all of us to share, not only nev and leigh who gave me the idea in the first Place, so let's start whith my plain ol' Gannet:

Or a la Ericsson eryeye (again on stilts):

I want to hear your recomendations about placing, size, and any other issue. Remember I'm no engineer, or Aerodynamicist, i just want to get the most people in a funny experience.

Thank you all.
Rafa.

Of course, it will be in Carboard, Plastic, Or any other media i find at hand and very, very much more stilyzed than this flinstones samples i'm posting.

What timeframe would your Gannet represent?  Might help to determine the type of array you select.

Oh, and go with SPATS!  It's a scientifically proven fact that SPATS! increase the coolness factor of any model by at least 100%

I couldn't have said it better myself, Mr Howling Mouse!

Yes spats! It definately needs some spats! Just say yes to spats!

I'd go with the round radar dish myself Rafa, but I'm a bit "old-school". ;)

Did I mention that I love spats?

<_<

For the AWACS version I'd go with an installation similar to the original Gannet AEW:

That would also make it easier to do the modular approach.
- make the third cockpit into an interchangeable unit.
- create a second unit that fits the bomb bay.

Hi, guys, thaks for coming in!!!

Mr.howling mouse, is that spats Thing releted to the wheel housings used on wings and fuselages before the invention of wheel wells?

And as for a time frame, i want to represent a near future (10-15 years) in wich 3rd and 2nd world navyes have achieved access and mastery of aeronaval operations (quite an interesting picture for traditional navy thinking)

You could use a long box antenna like on the OV-1:

Aand to the roles i mentioned initially, lets do this proposals of howling mouse and i dont remember who, sorry about a twin gannet, but since i dont have another gannet, i can use other donor (more assymmetry).

Hey, didn't wolfik have a zwilling with two different fuselages?

O. K. Kiddies and Old hands, what about this arrangement?
A tailfin-mounted dish a la antonov and a Side-Looking Sintethic Apperture array half dangling from the bomb bay.

again, will somebody take me out of my spanish tongue missery and tell me what the hell is a Spat, so i can model it?.......an educated guess... is it a wing or fuselage housing for wheels?[/size]

A spat is an aerodynamic covering on the landing gear of fixed gear aircraft to reduce drag.

The Junkers Stuka dive bomber was famous for spats on its landing gear.

Thanks, Upnorth, do you think  it would be wise to mount a wheel housing  a la breget alizé on the leading edges?
