So, now, with a much clear picture, waddayathink of this arrangement: snap-on Radar set with fintip extension and the bulging undercarriage storage?

Very interesting Rafa. I like your ingenuity on this one. I hesitate to think what that dish stuck on the tail would do to the center of gravity and how it would affect the manoeverability, but hey, this is Whiff World and it's your model!

Como estás Brian? Iwas expecting you around. Thanks for that ingenuity mention, but since The Gannet-21 is a third world invention, well, um, there are more pilots to airplane than in any other navy. Besides instability would be automatically managed by the Chinese FBW system, and Ol' Carlitos is still sitting in that third cockpit, so who cares?

On the other hand, the bulging undercarriage storage is an idea proposed by upnorth so the CG problem remains manageable, at least on the ground.

I'm planning to deploy those undercarriages surrounded by part of the cover, as if it was a huge, moveable Spat.

Mmmm nice! It's a proven fact that spats increase the coolness factor of any aircraft by 1000%!

A few of us are trying to get an Alt. Landing Gear GB together over here. If the idea interests you, feel free to join in and add your suggestions.

Did I mention that I love spats?

Hi Basher, i already been to the GB thread. I loved it. I'm thinking in posting a version of the hurricane in service with the US navy to patrol arctic landscapes. A seaborne Hurricane that takes off from and lands on US destroyers and Battleships fitted with ramps. Is an early STOVL Version, an autgyro, ideal to patrol great expanses of ice covered sea. Not at all a fast fighter, it is intended to patrol and locate enemy ships, subs, aircraft, and even can land on and take off from unprepared ice floes. It has, as you see spats (yum!!), and these fixed undercarriages can be changed aboard ship for floats. Whaddayathink?.

The Missus is snoring by now, and i made a quick transparent tape assembly of the WHIRLYCANE, as US navy troops named it:

That's really cool Rafa! Just wait until Tophe sees it. That kind of imaginative build is right up his alley.

Great stuff!

Thank you Brian, Next comment about it i'll make in the GB thread

Rafa, the OV-1B mohawk kit is shown in the "old kits of mine" thread! :)

Ok. The Gannet-21 AEW.1 is taking shape. The bulging nacelles on the wings have the undercarriage's storage toward the trailing edges. The left nacelle is longer because it contains an extra power generator to supply energy to the extra equipment in any variant of the aircraft. The long torpedo shape dangling from the bomb bay door is a Side-looking Sintethic Aperture Radar, and i elected to deploy it as a external load because the bomb bay is used for extra fuel tankage, and comes from a torpedo tube from a Revell PT-109. Much filling and sanding to do. Tomorrow i'll buy a tube of putty to start the job. The radar dish will be reworked and reshaped as soon as i figure out how Hobbes did in his BaE 146 AEW.
