Looking forward to seeing the Tornado/Harrier splice Elsie!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

That Typhoon is looking damm good Elsie, can't wait to see it finished.  Incidentally, I'm from sunny Berkshire.
I'd also add my welcome to the loony bin as wel. As you can see we are a friendly bunch. On rule, NEVER EVER give beer to the Canadian contingent, it makes them go a bit slack eyed and silly....

Hi here is an updated pic of the Eurofighter.

Before anyone says anything, I know that the airbrake is the wrong colour, this has been amended!

All that is left to go is the fixing of the canopy and the aerials and the pylons.  This bird will not be wearing any armament!

Enjoy!

All of these models look nice! concerning the tornado, next step -after you- will be grafting Lightning wings... then delta wings... then FSW...
Welcome here!
airbrake of the Typhoon is the wrong colour have you noticed it ?
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

QuoteWelcome aboard Elsie!

Lovely looking Typhoon!

As the builder of the Tornado/Hornet hybrid PD7 mentioned, I cant wait to see someone elses take on a straight-wing Tornado.  One thing I thought about doing with mine (here:  Tornado/Hornet ) was changing the vertical tail.  I was a bit concerned that the tail would overwhelm the wings, so I briefly considered changing to twin tails, mounted roughly where the airbrakes are.

I would have faired over the spine and tried my hand a rescribing the outline of a dorsal airbrake, same as the F-18 has.  In the end the F-18 wings were big enough to still look OK with the huge tail, plus I didnt want it to be that much different, so I stuck with the Tornado tail.

What flavor Harrier/Tornado will you be using for your hybrid?  If it's a Harrier II wing, it may not be an issue, but a 1st gen wing may actually be smaller than the tail.  I also assume you will not be using the Harrier's outrigger gear, in which case a Harrier II wing may look cool if the outriger bays were faired over to make bullet fairing fuel tanks.

Either way, I cant wait to see your progress!

I'll second all of AD's comments, here.

If you do use a Harrier II wing, use one from a RAF version and between fairing the outriggers as tankage and extending the pylon to carry a heavy load rather than just a Sidewinder, ASRAAM, or equivalent (side thought to Archibald and Pollux, what load-out would Aeronavale AV-8B+s carry for a CAP mission?).

IMHO, a first generation Harrier wing is just plain too small for a Tornado fuselage as you'd get a dangerously high wing loading.

Cool Typhoon Elsie!! Is it airbrush painted??

Quotethought to Archibald and Pollux, what load-out would Aeronavale AV-8B+s carry for a CAP mission?
For my part, I could easily see a French Harrier based on the AV-8B+ but with some modifications: a French radar (the RDY for example), the two additionnal pylons for air-air missiles just like on the Brittish GR.7 and of course, some French weapons...

For a short CAP mission, I think that a French Harrier in the 1990's will carry:
-2 air-air Magic II missiles for self-defense
-2 external tanks for better range/endurance
-2 AS-30L guided missiles or 2 BGL-400 (laser guided bombs)
-1 laser designator ATLIS pod
-1 jammer/shaff dispenser pod (Barracuda for example)
(the ATLIS and jammer pod could be replace by additional tanks. Indeed, the target for Aeronavale fighters were often designated by ground troops. But just send me by PM some details on your backstory, because there are dozens of possible config depending on your timeline, and I don't want to transform Elsie's topic!)

Well, sorry Elsie for the out topic!

But I second Elmayerle! The late generation Harrier's wings will fit better on a Tornado, in my own opinion. And I just enjoy the design of those wings!! It will be gloious on a Tornado!

Hi Guys

Thanks to you all for the kind words.  Pollux in answer to your question, no it is not airbrush painted, we don't possess an airbrush and to be honest, I wouldn't know what to do with one!

Sisko, in answer to your question, unfortunately I am the only one in the house who is modelling at the moment.  Hubby is waiting for an operation on his eyes and should then be back to modelling!

Well Cheers once again, I'm off now to finish the Eurofighter! Will post the final pics tonight.

Thanks for the answer. If I ask that, that was because your paintjob look just so good that I thought it was airbrush paint!  ;)
I'm serious, and a little bit jalous ;)

Have a good modeling, we're waiting for the pictures  B)
