THE GANNET 21 MR. After years of retirement, the venerable Gannet has come back to life with a twist. Like a Phoenix, the old design has been revived by Furisian Aircraft Corporation, a State owned company of the kingdom of Furisia, in the Pacific Ocean.
A sea faring country, Furisia lacked a properly equipped Navy, until ten years ago, by then recently crowned King Mehmet II, decreed the creation of an Aeronaval Complex in the Capital City of Furya, north of the sprawling Island State. Ravaged by decades of internal turmoil and armed conflict Furisia was pacified by Mehmet II after a lucky and fortunate event that changed forever the fate of this forgotten country: The Big Oil Find.
Under the seas, and next to the Island, an inmense oil deposit was found in 2001, bringing to the small kingdom prosperity never dreamed of. Still lacking an estimate of Furisia's oil reserves (sources cite diverse figures), this wealth has bought the Furisian the best money can buy, counting among this the aquisition of modern naval ships and equipment, training and the initiation on activities to create an autonomous aircraft Industry.

Born from this Company, the Gannet 21 is a marvel of ingenuity and improvisation, too.

In order to protect its maritime approaches the kingdom developed this airplane from a proven design, adding modern tehcnology to create one of the more versatile aircraft in the world today.

The Gannet 21 MR is the Maritime Patrol version of this aircraft, characterized by a new, uprated turboprop powerplant, Fly-by-Wire controls, advanced datalinks and ISR capabilities.

New, stronger structure and faired undercarriages assure the type capabilities to operate from aircraft carriers, such as the Mehmet's broadsword, a derivative of the Russian ship Admiral Kuznetsov.

Up to 6 weapons pylons can be attached to the wings, to accommodate missiles, rockets and bombs, freeing the bomb bay for optional fuel tankage, to increase the range and endurance.

Lately, news of a new, much improved version have leaked from Furisia, and rumors of a twin-engined Spat-toting Gannet 21 being sighted only add to the expectation, but officials fro Furisian Aircraft Corporation say they can't confim nor deny such information.

The Gannet 21 MR is here to stay for many years, patroling and defending the sea approaches of Furisia.

Wow, Rafael ! That's gotta be the toughest, coolest looking model I've seen in years ! Who knew a Gannet could be so mean* !  I absolutely love the paint scheme you've chosen....really fits well. And all the underwings ordnance...wicked ! The bulges are a nice touch as well, as is the green canopy.

Great job !

Stunning model - very interesting (and effective) twist on a personal favourite of mine...can't wait for leigh to see her!  Really must do something with my gannet - i'm thinking single seat CAS...think contraprop portly skyraider!  Really like your cammo too Rafa!

Toad - never a gannet, but have been pecked in the pecker by a stork, kicked in the nards by a flamingo, pecked in the belly button by a cormorant (not the helicopter...lol), and that's just the tip of the iceberg!  wonder if supertom's been attacked by a boobie yet?   ahhhhhhhhhh boobies...
