This is dedicated to my friend, John Howling Mouse. Without his motivation, i would not have restarted in the hobby. JHM, i promise you'll see a complete model in this thread. Thanks.

RUSSIA, the year 2013

The mujahideen watched with interest the results of his unit's last ambush. Charred corpses half dangling from the hatches of the burnt BMP, and mangled bodies littered around a disabled truck were all the remains of this morning's shift at the border guards OP 30 kilometers away. His 6 men were scavenging the dead and the vehicles and were reunited at a small rock outcropping, when a deafening roar and a flash of lightning split the cloudy, foggy sky. A exploding hail of projectiles and rockets butchered his men and maimed him badly. Lying on the rocky soil, his only seeing eye catched a glimpe of his fleeing assasin, a big, straight wing, a convoluted tail and the deafening roar, wich, strangely faded rapidly away as his sight dimmed into the dark.....

The YAK-480 battlefield close support aircraft was a product of the urgent need Russia had of mass producible, cheap and tipycally russian strong fighters. After the nuclear an radiologic terrorist attacks on several commonwealth major cities, the country lay in ruins and an economic crisis was affecting every aspect of  russian life. Gone were the years of foreign military sales of the Rodina's products. Surrounded by Mujahideen on one front, and the temible Fedayeen on the other, and to make matters worse, a collection of  unfriendly small states that had much to win from Russia's collapse, the commonwealth was fighting this, his last war.

The YAK-480 was a design born from desperation, as its basis was a WW2 german plane, for lack of time and funds to develop a new breed of fighter. But a new breed indeed it was. Shlomo Kuryakin, a jewish descended engineer at YAK OKB, was responsible for the design. It called for an airplane as tough and versatile as Russia's Shturmoviks. A BF-109G was mated to a pair of powerful Lyulka turboprops and an innovative twin fuselage was adopted to carry mode fuel and electronics. A powerful fixed armament, comprising Avtomat Khalashnivovas machine guns and a deadly 30 millimeter cannon were the starting point of this fighter's firepower. A totally unconventional tail unit (or units), crowned the design of the deformed thing.
Superb agility, frighteningly accurate firepower, ascencional power and a high speed for a turboprop, made this aircraft deserving of the name "The poor man's A-10".
Equipped with electronics and sensors, this aircraft was the centerpiece around wich the russian forces formed to retake their country from the hads of the terrorists.
Today the YAK-480 is a very appreciated mount for its crews, and a valuable piece of the defese forces of a Russia newly aborning.

A Bf 109 with 2 turboprops holding fuselages and a special tail? Interesting, but without picture, this is just teasing...

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.
