This is news to me: very welcome news at that.   :D

Now, has anyone here built some A-Models?  What are they like?

Where't that "jaw whacking the floor" icon?

Oh, wait -- here it is:  :o  (doesn't quite cut it)

Okay, I am SO ordering me one of those!

As to Amodel's quality, it varies widely. The eeny-weeny  1/72 Pitts Specials and Christen Eagles are jewel-like and quite brilliant, wheras the Su-15 that I got from them was rather sad, in a mushy-detail soft-plastic sort of way. And then there is their 1/72 Antonov An-22 with the fiberglass wings and fuselage...

Either way, the Buffalo is a must-have as it's the only game in town.

Didn't A-model do a 1/144 C-123 Provider? Anyone done that kit and is it any good?

Well they tend to fill the box with parts ! As for build quality then the latter ones are starting to get quite good, the Fury's in particular are nice. The early ones take some work

The reviews for the C123 were on the whle positive

If you go into it as a modeller then you won't be disapointed.

I'm waiting their promised Manchester/Lancaster/Lincoln in 1/144

O.K. I'm snapping that up when I see it on the shelves here!

Amodels is making some real improvements in their moldings. I have their Hawker Fury and Yak-28PP Brewer E and can say they look very good in the box and all dry fitting looks positive.

Basically, the earlier in Amodel's catalog you go, the worse things get. Their MiG-9 is notorious for unbuildability. Their Rutan Voyager, sadly, is a joke and its innacuracies are mostly incurable.

I've seen their 1/144 C-123s and Grumman Albatross in the box at my LHS and both look very nice.

Not likely to happen.  A-Model kits are not exactly what you call "mass market".  If you want one, I'd order it toot de sweet (as Col. Potter used to say) so you aren't disappointed.

The "Amonster" kits of large Soviet types are quite nice.  They've improved their injection molding technology a lot in the past couple of years, so I'd have no hesitation on buying their new kits.

Actually one of my LHSs has a fairly good selection of Amodel kits and does replenish their stocks of the brand on a fairly regular basis. I suspect if I sit tight, I'll probably see it on the shelf there this month or next.

I've got the C-8 version.  It's ok.  Notice quite as nice as the C-123, but buildable with some work.
