This model is the first in a new line of projects called "Belgian Air Component 2010.
so this is the first of many.

Back History

in 2008, the Belgian Armed Forces started to look for a new fighter to replace the F-16AM by 2010/15. a down selection was made and in 2010, the Rafale-L was chosen to as the winner and an order was placed for 48 aircraft.

the Rafale-L (L stands for Light) was a downgraded export version of the rafale witch dassault developed after the unsuccesfull export attempts of the type abroad. the "Rafale Light" is comparible with the mirage 5 series, witch could be tailored down the specifications and budget of the customer.

Belgium chose the Rafale cause of the good and reliable quality it has recieved before (Mirage 5BA, Alpha Jet, Falcon 20/900). and equiped it AESA radar, Sidewinders, GBU-12 a new glass cockpit with BARCO touch screens and an american ECM suite.

The Model

the model is a 1/72 Italery Rafale-M (i wanted the C version, but was not in stock)
the sidewinders were stolen from a revell Jaguar GR1 and the GBU's came from the Italeri 1/72 weapons pack.

the aircraft has been painted in the markings of the 1st Fighter squadron from Florrenes AB.

i will post pics of the cockpit later  B)

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.
