Thanks to all who participated in the poll geoff requested to guage interest and feelings towards this build!

This GB has been approved, though Geoff has suggested a January start date.  Given the snail's pace some of you build at, it's probably a good idea  :P

Soooo....in keeping with my idea of working the build around events related ot the War itself, I'm thinking a January 09 start, since this was the date on which the British Ambassador lodged a formal protest to the unauthorised landing on South Georgia of a scap metal merchant.  End date will be June 14th-the anniversary of the war's end.

I'll have proper rules/guidelines set up before the start, with the ideas posted in the other thread as the basis.  Since this is a build commemorating a war that is still fresh in the hearts and minds of a lot of our members, the one hard and fast rule will be respect for all.

Thanks again for all the support guys!

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Cool !

I guess it's time to dust off a few half-starts as well as an idea I gathered bits for, but never actually started !

Oh yesssssssss!!! I remember this one, Ysi! This was your "entry" on this forum  ^_^
Hmmm.. whatif Argentina has had Mirage F1s with much longer range and Super-530 AAMs ?
(Pollux, its time for us to navalize this Mirage F1 :) )
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Hmmm I've just found my entry for this group build... and wrote the backstory.
;)

Because of British naval superiority, I would only consider long range land based fighters for Fuerza Aérea Argentina.

QuoteCan I add this here?: http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...0&hl=patagonian
If you're asking if you can post it here for inspiration, then HECK YEAH!  It's a great model!

If, however, you're asking if it can be entered, the answer is a regrettable 'no', since all builds will have to be completed during the Jan-June timeframe.  I'd say you'd have a good shot at a prize if you did another though!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

So should I put an Argie "Matador" here or in viff whiff?

Would it be possible to have a build in this event AS WELL as the Secret Santa GB?

Both :)

BTW, the use of the word "Argie" has racist overtones in some quarters.  I know you're not using it in that sense, rather just an abbrevation of Argentinians, the same as Aussies from Australians, but its in the same genre as Japanese and Paki.  Just a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll remember that and refer to it in the future as a FAA "Matador".  In any case, it'll carry two early Sidewinders, two Martel Pescadors, two cannon, and the missile control pod on the centerline.

I've just asked Heller some spares for my entry... something on the field of the French position in the conflict...
