But your camo job is wonderful :o

You know: repaint white or, perhaps, aluminium ;)

I stand corrected (seeing such camo). No idea of how obtaining such result by myself   :(
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Easy to focus on what did not go right....but, hey, have another look at the controlled lines in green----fantastic!!

Did you prime your model?  I use Krylon's sandable grey primer spraycan.
The few times I forget the primer, I run into this same problem.
I say paint it aluminum (as suggested up there) and call it "weathering."

Very nice.....I like the idea of making some weathering out of it.

Yep...dry on some aluminium, and then a light brush of powdered white. Make that little tape pull look intentional!

Shasper

In the future, put some Kleer on there before you mask (wish I'd done that with Charette 1, otherwise the masks wouldnt have pulled up so much paint   )

I Kleerly used Future  ....two coats. I think it was finger grease or similar. Ill try a touch up...if it doesnt work a sand down and repaint. All part of the fun   :ar:  :ar:  :ar:

Wow Dork that's some impressive paint work! Great job on the camo! As for the white stripe, I'd touch it up with a brush by hand. Should be pretty easy work.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

Big problem...bad workmanship really.  A combination of a small crack in the filling that let water under the paint and "Kleer" plus I used gloss white instead of my usual matt.....different thinning ratio and airbrush pressure...........a cock up just waiting to happen.  <_<    <_<   I usually have good results using Shas's method of coating with kleer ,but bad filling and moisture...no excuse. Let that be a lesson to us all. :P  :P

Ill resand and prime  today and hopefully restore tomorrow....if Xmas shopping doesnt get in the way.

Ooohhh, are we going up to Preston again ??

Sorry, Al, sounds like you got the problem identified/solved, looking forward to seeing the little Fiat in the flesh sometime soon. Tell you what, bring it round here and we have a 'Model-In' sometime over the holidays.

Mmmmmmmmm.........is anyone else in love with the Fiat G.50? I built Airfix's one and thought "Why aren't these still flying today?" I recently found out there's only one example left, and it is in (unrestored) storage in Belgrade. Sigh......

I just love your camo work so far (so does Lana - she adores Italian camo jobs) and like Brian said it'd be nice 'n' easy to just touch up the white by hand. But I;m sure that whatever you do it'll still turn out great!

Still not the best but this time I guess it will have to do. Im told that the spray pattern was very random and quality was very variable,so I may get away with it.

A lesson I did learn from this and Id like to pass on....is dont spray gloss white if the other paints are matt. The gloss gives a much "thicker coat". Ill be using my usual matt white and Kleer next time.
Im going to start the weathering and decals tonight. With luck the next time this is aired in public it will be completed.

While I was trying out the new airbrush I did a freehand paint job on this small 1:72 Corsair.  Does it need masking?? or do you think once its weathered and dirty this demarcation will work.  My fellow wiffers opinions are always gratefully recieved

It looks like a wartime finish applied in the field to me...they didn't have the stencils and time to make them look like the factory jobs after repairs. I would leave it as is, and maybe do some weathering.
