For you "What If...?" warplane fans out there, I've just released the Fantastic Plastic 1:144 Convair XB-53 bomber:

This weird forward-swept-wing medium bomber project was developed by Convair between 1941 and 1949, but was ultimately scuttled before it reached the mock-up stage. (I wonder what the stability of the plane would have been like in the pre-computer-assisted control era?)

This is a simple four-piece kit with a clear resin nose. Silver strip decals allow you to build the "framework" for both the cockpit and clear nose windows. Total length of the finished model is 6.25 inches.

It's a great stocking-stuffer!

This is more than a "What If?" kit. It's a "What the Heck...?"

Back in the early 1970s, aerospace engineers were trying to determine the optimal configuration for NASA's proposed Space Shuttle. At North American Rockwell, they came up with this proposal for minimizing the ship's length while keeping the cargo area consistent with more linear designs. It's a weird-donkey design for sure -- and now you can add the "Breadbox" Shuttle to your "What If?" spacecraft collection with this 1:144 from Fantastic Plastic!

Here's a new Luft '46 kit from Fantastic Plastic: The Hutter Hu-136 "Stubo II" Ground Attack Fighter.

This is an early-War (1938) design for a compact bomb-carrying tactical fighter that could be launched via trolley and then land by use of a retractable landing skid. Not a whole lot of visibilty for the pilot!

The kit was patterned and cast exclusively for Fantastic Plastic by Anigrand Craftswork. The kit sells for $49 plus shipping.

Nice looking kit - certainly better than the one from ? ( sorry relying on memory) White cat Models I got thru Cape Hobby tho the price is a bit on the steep side especially with US postage rates to OZ.

Now I'm not knocking Luft '46 subjects or the manufacturers who produce this sort of thing to fill a niche market, but how come stuff like this can be produced when there's no decent injection moulded Supermarine Swift out there at a decent price, eh? Mr Airfix stop faffing with imaginary Mistels and give us a decent Swift!!
