Hello!

The SO-4060 was stalled for some time because of a paint problem (difficulties to find a paint sheme, lack of adequate paint...).
after some changes it has now found its definitive camo.

In 1956, when working on the SO-4060 heavy fighter, SNCASO was also working on a rocket powered interceptor (the French SR-177!!!) the Trident-II.

It was much less practical than the SARO design, because the jets were small and placed on wingtips. Rocket engine was on the tail, armement was reduced to one AAM on the centerline.
But the plane had superb performances, it even broke the height record at
24 200 m in may 1958 (Mjr Johnson and the F-104 beat it... one week later).

This one was killed by the Mirage-III which was much more practical (albeit  ceiling was much lower, but bombers were now flying at treetops.. <_< ).

Mach2 made a Trident II in 1/72 scale... awful, but good basis. I rebuilt mine this morning with plastic card (merci JHM again), new canopy, and plenty others goodies.

Here's the two... SNCASO at its top, in 1956... before dassault take control of militaries aircrafts...

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Splendido!!  Glad to see that plastic sheet going to such good use.
I have it on good authority you may yet be seeing some more plastic----thinner, more pliable sheets...   :P

 Congratulations. Nice models added to your big collection of French jets from those years...
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Mi amigo... these are not ramjets but Viper (small) turbojets (to complete the big rocket engine in the fuselage)
That was the main problem of the Trident (compared to the SR-177) : the turbojets were too small and not powerfull enough...

Hmm whatif the rocket engine had been replaced by an Atar-101 with the same thrust, and wingtip engines replaced by fuel tanks? something very similar to a Starfighter...

The SO-4060 is now finish, complete with decals. Pics are coming...
Hmm long term projects in the french section include Durandal, Grognard and VAUTOUR

I stand corrected...... beautiful little wingtip Viper RAMJETS!!! :P    :P    ;)

I see your romance with sheet plastic is paying off....

Malo chico!  :P

Here's the pics (still with the Mirage IVs)

another cool whatif would be the big Mirage IVB (28m length, 16 m span, 57 tons MTOW, 5000 km range; two J-75 turbojets).
Or its competitor, the Br.1180 (a scaled-up, 4000km range Jaguar!)

Just for the fun, I grouped the last Breguet combat aircrafts projects (between 1957 and 1967, when the firm was taken over by Dassault).

Breguet 1110 were V/STOL aircraft (the 1110 Apterion is quite similar to the Harrier :) )

Breguet 1120 was a naval fighter very similar to the Mirage F1... ten years before

Breguet 1170 was a kind of french F6D Missileer

Breguet 1180 was the Mirage IVB competitor

Breguet 1200 was a naval fighter powered by two speys

Breguet 1210 is the Jag ancestor

Breguet 1220 studies embraces work on VG aircrafts (VG variant of the 1200, Mirage G competitor and a... french F-111)

Breguet 1260 (the last Breguet ever) was the Alpha Jet ancestor.

Grognard?! That is a real challenge!

I like your Frech collection.

Can I sugest to use some other schemes: Djibouti's, that brownish varnish in Mirage-2000 prototype, Daget schemes, etc ...?

Hmm I have to admit that my camo are a bit "standard"... salvo the Mega Mirage... este fue un gran esfuerzo!  ^_^

I love some of those Breguet profiles

Is it possible to have dimensions or scale reference? I want to build some of them.

EDIT: I do not want, I NEED to build some of those Breguet concepts.

I'll second the sentiments and the request for scale info.  Those are some goregeous birds.  I'm particularly attracted to the BR.1200 but i'd like info on all.
