Nick

I want to suggest this for an online GB to celebrate the formation in 1947 of the United States Air Force in a way that only we can!

Basically it'll run from 4th July (US Independence Day) till September 18th (USAF Foundation Day).
You can build any aircraft you think could or should have served in the USAF or even a different camo or unit scheme. You know the sort of thing, Wild Weasel Tornados' or Boeing 747 transports, XFV-12 VTOLs or A-6 Intruders....

Not sure what else needs considering but I'm sure you'll tell me!  :D

Any takers?

Hmmm....USAF SEA Buccaneer...Thunderbirds F-17...SAC Vulcan...Hawk T-38 replacement...USAFE AV-8...Norad F-8 interceptor...F-106 upgrade...F/B-106...F-108...F-16 derived UCAV...Mirage Aggressor...MiG-21 Aggressor...BAC/Convair F-98 Lightning...scale-o-rama A-2 (1/72 B-2 redone to 1/48)...ASAT SR-71...Edwards F-14...WW F-104...SEA Wyvern Sandy...USAF 60th Anniversary B-1 Thunderbird...

I gues I'd be in if I could come up with an idea of what to build.   :D
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I'm trying to figure out a USAF build involving spats.

I love spats!

Nick I think it's a brilliant idea - count me in. Probably means I get an excuse to crack open an Anigrand kit or two  :)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

A-10 maybe..?

That would free up the gear sponsons to hold a pair of 20mm guns for those times when a GAU-8 is 'overkill'.

Oh yeah, that's all I need, an excuse to build 'another' F-20 !! ;)

Easy..... a T-6 Texan/Harvard - the early ones had spats anyways, or a T-28 Trojan.... now that would be d*mn sexy, a tricycle geared T-28 with spats, Mmmmm

BDB.
A Preditor already has fixed gear.  Would have to look better with spats.

Spats? The USAAF had some DH Dominies for communications in the UK WW2, so perhaps they could have had some more in the early days of USAFE?

Good idea Nick, I like your suggestion of dates as well.  I'll discuss it with Geoff and see it goes.

Mayhaps I should bring forward my USAF EA-5D effort.

Should go without saying that I'm in. Not sure what I'll build yet, but it will be...interesting.

EDIT: Question, would ANG squadrons count? Because I'm digging the markings of the Oklahoma and Arkansas units.
