Hi all:

This is my first serious modification to create a "What-if". Is P-51 B of Accurate Models and the section of motor of P-40 B of Monogran.

Represents a P-50 "Fury" of 5ª AF, 451 Squadron made up of Spanish republican volunteers.

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad.

The model is beautiful, but weren't all the early Mustangs powered by the V-1710 anyway?

Yeah, but with a cleaner installation and not as good a scoop and radiator installation.  NAA did a ton of clean-up when they did the redesign for the Merlin installation.

I believe that Curtiss did some research into drag reduction, and were quite miffed with North American when the Mustang was rolled out, to the point of feeling ripped off. In the back of my memory (from a modelling book about the Mustang, Bert Kinzey????) I think the Brits asked Curtis to provide data to North American to expedite the Mustang design.

Happy to be corrected.

Finally, a very sweet model. Bravo!

Looking good and convincing enough to be believable.  Now you have to take the remaining body parts from both kits and create a Merlin powered P-40...  ;)

Fabulous model!!

Merlin-powered P-40s were the P-40F and P-40L.

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Simply beautiful! It just looks so real that it would fool a lot of people, and the quality of workmanship is first rate!

Wow that's one very impressive first whiff, Miguel! Awesome! If you took this one to a show, you'd have people asking you if it was a real design! I love those Republican markings on the tail! No Passaran!

Migue, esto está precioso!!!

Beautiful plane, first time I enterd saw a strange P-40, second, a strange mustang, Third time I didn't really know what was I eating, or smoking until I read your explanation. Convincing bird, I like your finishing techniques, hope mine were as well honed. Beautiful!!!

Felicitaciones, Miguelito!!!

Miguel,

Nicely done.

That is so "wrong" it's right and so "right" it's wrong!

I could easily see a JMN falling over into a fit of logical contradictions.  Excellent blending of the Curtiss rest and North American rest.  Ere but for some engineering work by those NA boys things might have wound up looking just like that.

Nicely done indeed.
