Progress and refinement continue. Tiger give his input and I try my hand at intake trunks, making engine facades out of film containers, and cutting individual blades for the compressors.

I've a got a nickname for it that I like Big Burner Tom or BBT-14C ;)

One question, though,

Isn't the front, pointy end of the compressor stage a knitting needle?!?!?        :D

it looks like either a Knitting needle or a small Sparrow missle with the fins sanded off

Aw, you lucky dawg!  All the voices ever tell me is "Red Rum!  Red Rum!" (and I'm not even a fan of "The Shining").

Looks like you have another styrene masterpiece on your hands, Eddie.

What would the tail look like with the first version (including fin-top-mounted empennage) but without the lower elevators?

P.S. How much do you charge for those compressor fans?
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Wow!  I definitely agree with Shas about the Sukhoi look.  I can easily see that machine sitting in the yard at Monino with a little sign in front reading "T-??".

Wow!

like what you've done with the tail end very much - and those wingtips give it a good all round sense of "balance"...any chance that you could roll this chunky monkey over and let the boys see her belly?

totally frickin' in awe of your creativity and fearless plastic hacking, always

It did look pretty good with the lower elevons removed, by I'm going for a "simple" look. Straight forward, like the Foxbat. Mr. Mouse, I feel like I'd be robbing anyone to charge for making compressor blade, but every man has his price. ;)   How 'bout I just show what I'm doing. You could farm this work out to your daughter. :)  2 circles, your I.D. and O.D. Divide like a pie, cut out and add little shims to make one side stand up. If I'd been thinking, I would have set the shims back a bit to make them look like blades. For where mine are going to be, paint will give the impression I want. Here's a look. :)

Holy cats, Mr Miller!!! This one's got AWESOME writtten all over it! I am particularly impressed by your work on the compressor blades. Its details like those that seperates the men from the boys.

I want to build like you (and Baz and Greg and Nev and Rafa and Geoff and Ian and Zac and Allan and Toad and...) when I grow up.

thank Eddie - simply amazing.

you know, you look at those last two photos, and you see an awful lot of daylight and not much plastic...and yet, i KNOW that this will grow into one of those incredibly sturdy looking, glossy, smooth models that we are used to!

truly a pleasure to watch an artist at work!

I'll bet that thin whistles like an old Buick when you run through the house with it.    Lotsa airflow through the middle  :dum:

I like the shape it's taking on and your work on the engines is quite inspiring.

Thank y'all very much! I have found out that just about no glue sticks to film canisters, so I'm trying to use 2 part epoxy on the burner cans. Crossed fingers.....
