And...this one just plain didn't work the way I wanted it to. I had a P-51B fuselage and Mig-15 wings left after making my MiG-14 (or was it 16?) and thought hey...a P-51B body with swept wings would look SO cool...well..in the end..it looks hideous.

Obviously it has to be Russian! ^_^

Alternatively, it could be an Australian built "Digereedoo" jet fighter prototype from the early 1950s...

Woah that P-38 concept ROCKS!!!

The X-tail is one of the most unique bits of whiffing I've seen in a while. Very cool.

I gotta vote for the Digereedoo as the name for that interesting looking early jet. You might want to try adding a sharply angled fillet to the fin to compliment the sweep of the intake.

Great stuff!

P.S. I sent my B(ig) F(at) 109 Totenkampfer in for Silly Week but haven't heard anything back. I don't know if this is typical.

Yyeah...Steve's usally snowed under by submissions this time of year...so usually you won't know until the day it hits the stands! If you don't hear by the forth day or so drop him another email with "Silly week" in the title...

I decided to do an X Tail as I wanted it to look different than a Do-335 tail...then I realised WHY you have a ventral vertical tail surface...it keeps the prop from striking the ground on takeoff! Hence the fifth tail surface now added...

The P-38 will have a truly hilarious and very British storyline to go with it...

Wonderful work Alvis. I just love the P-38  , will it still have the pusher engine on the ex-Shinden fuselage? For the P-51/ Mig combo, I think it would look great in Hungarian markings; Unicraft has a kit of a Hungarian jet powered P-51/ Stuka combo (maybe some inspiration?). Link

That P-38 must be completed!

What scheme do you have planned for it?
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

BdB, dont feel bad mate, I popped about 4 submissions back on the 26th and I didnt get a note until yesterday.

An helicopter kit, turned into twin-boom airplane pod? Incredible! Great!  Tell us more...
I love also your "improved" P-38...
Let us all pray Saint Alvis to finish them... someday, on Earth or Above...

Exactly Tophe, it's an German helicopter (I think, I'll have to double check) and the wings are from a 1/48 P-40 with added outer sections from a 1/72 P-40, as it had too short of a wingspan without the extensions.

Hopefully, one day not too soon. I was hoping you'd notice the twin boomers!

And where the tail comes from?

Looks like A-20 or P-40 wings (perhaps even Wellington), the fuselage looks A-20ish too. D*mned if I can get the empanage tho..... but I'll keep trying !
