The most I ever spent was $250 US for anh Oz shop "Voyage to the Bottom Of The Sea" Seaview that is about 3ft long and made of resin. I have also found alot of good kits at fairly reasonable prices at a convention called Wonderfest that is held each year in Kentucky. When I go later this year it will be my 5th time going.

Would love the following in 1/72...

Hasegawa F-111G with special 6SQN Pig tail art

and

C-141 Starlifter.

I guess how far I would pay would depend on what company was manufacturing/releasing what.

Sidenote: Hope Hasegawa re-release F-111G when we retire it in 2010ish.

DropBear:

Hasegawa reissued their 1/72 FB-111 as a RAAF G model in the late 90s or early 2000s it included the 6 Sqn pig artwork on the tail and the first RAAF G "Boneyard Wrangler" on the decal sheet.

I paid about $40 Canadian for mine in 2003.

I haven't been able to find one though.

maybe $100 USD if:

1) it was the definitive 1/32 MiG-23MLD, and
2) I happen to have it at the time, and
3) I could buy it without the wife knowing how much I paid for it.
Someday, I'll even finish a model ...

I drove 500 miles to rescue the Strategic Styrene Reserve, Chalmette, LA Branch, from my Katrina-ravaged home.

Does that count? :P

You managed to escape Chalmette and went back - voluntarily! You do love plastic!  :P

I was surprised to see that my former house in Arabi escaped intact (well, from the outside).

Yes, that certainly counts.  More than money does!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

I top out at £30 per kit usually, but if Im at a show, I'll go up to £50ish, having said thatat Scale Model World 2005 I spend £325............suffice to say my wife capped my spending at £150 last year

Wow. I don't think all the kits in my stash combined would even come close to being worth $600. I must be the po' boy of the bunch here.

You Northern Hemisphere blokes don't know how lucky you are wrt cheapish model prices!  ^_^

I paid $AUD83 for an Italeri 1/72 B-52H only a fortnight or so ago.

Most of my Italeri and Hasegawa stuff costs between $30-40 just for run of the mill F-18E/F, F-16, F-15s etc etc etc.  <_<

Might add that here in Brissy, there are only two really good model stores. Hobbyrama on the northside and HobbyOne on the southside.

Pretty lame for a city of two million peeps!

I have spent $90+ shipping and handling for some unique models (resin):
1/48 SA-43 Hammerhead: Has been assembled
1/400 Lupo-class Frigate: Taking my time with it since it will require a lot of modifications to turn it into its final shape.

The key word being unique.  Otherwise I would not spend all that much money.  I also did spend $60 for a 1/72 resin kit of the F-86K. B)

Svaz, you were from Arabi?!?!?  Dang, tiny world!  Where are you now?  I'm in Little Elm, TX (25 mi north of Dallas).

Yeah, guys, I went back a couple weeks ago to oversee the gutting of my house.  Suffice to say, it was a VERY painful trip.  The highlight was rescuing my kit collection.  Once we move into the house next week, I'll get my mom to ship all 300 or so kits to me.

I'm NOT looking forward to that bill! :o

I was EXTREMELY pissed to see some SOB rifled through our house and actually stole my RC10GT, amongst other things.  I was planning on replacing the bearings, and getting a new engine and radio, so I could get her running again.  Thieving bastards.  They (whoever they were) stole everything that wasn't nailed down, including about 50-60 CDs and several DVDs that I couldn't find.

Well, for a single kit that exists, there is the Iron Shipwright USS New Jersey, BB-16, which is $235US plus shipping.

For an entire model, though, it'll probably be the Trumpeter USS Saratoga, CV-3, with all the add-ons: wooden deck, PE (2 sets), extra aircraft, decals and PE for those aircraft, and a mounting base. The base will be cheap, since I'm good with wood and can make my own, but then I'll need an acrylic cover to protect the result from dust and cats. Probably over $300US once I'm done.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.
