I had intended this to be one of my first atempts at building a really nice F/A-18. I got resin weels for it since I lost one of the kit wheels and during constructon I broke the nose gear in half. So after I had built it I wanted to try and duplicate the weathering the paint goes through but had no real idea how to do it. I started out with painting it all over Flat Light Gull Grey. Then I got a sponge and dabbed it into some Dark Grey after the first coat of Light Gull Grey had dried . After the dark Gull Grey had dried I cut a new piece off the Sponge and dabbed that into some Light Ghost Grey. Instead of the weathering like we have come to know I ended up with something closer to WWII Luftwaffe Camoflage on my F/A-18.

This one actually has parts from two Mongram F/A-18 kits in 1-48th scale that is why there is the FLIR and LANTIRN pods with the weapons load and white fuel tank

The markings are for Marine Sqd VMFA-531

I fixed the broken nose gear and put it in a position to match the tail rudders as if it was making a left hand turn on the ground and the canopy was left slightly open.

I'll give it a shot. the camera is only 1.3MGP and its small so its hard to tell if I'm getting a good picture. I'll try ny web cam and see if the lighting is better to.

Thank you----this is too good to miss seeing in as close to its full glory as possible.

Here are two more I did with the web cam. I couldn't get enough light to make it any better so I apologize for the pics.

Here is the best picture yet so far.

Oh yes, you deserve a camera, my friend.
Starting to realize just how nice this must be...still kind of a tease, though.

Would be perfect look for Cold War "CLASSIFIED" photos!

I might be able to post better pictures in two weeks when my daughter comes by for a visit, she got a 5mgp camera for her birthday/Chistmas present and that should be better to shoot with.
