Well I'm interested in this aircraft. It was the first atempt at the Su-24 Fencer, with a wing similar to the TSR-2 and... two lift jets.
The result was not very good, mainly because of the lift jets (disastrous handling and fuel consumption).

The second prototype (T6-2IG) had no lift jets, but, alas, no fixed wing too... Sukhoi lost two and half years fitting the VG wing (July 1967 - January 1970). More, handling of the Su-24 is not particularly good...

Now, whatif they had stayed with the fixed wing, just deleting the lift jets ? The plane would have looked like a scaled-down TSR-2 (only 21 meters long and 9.5 m span).
Think it could be cool fitting a Su-24 with a T-6 1 wing... 1200 "Soviets TSR-2s" sold worlwide...

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

All of that to say that I'm planning to start a T6-2 (or Su-24 with fixed, delta wing) for tomorrow. No mods to the basic fuselage, just change the wing... found a 3-view on the web.

Thank you very much! I like the work you do on the TSR-2, and I'll be glad to post some pics of my model on your MSN group.
(can't remember where my pic come from, but it doesn't come from your website if I remember well...)

Main problem is not in the building, it is in my will! That's now two days I want to start, but I feel a bit lazzy. But wind can turn very quickly...

Building this production T-6-1 won't be too complicated  : I just want to change the wings. The rest will basically stay similar to a Revell Su-24M (1/72 scale).

I plan something cool with the VG system : I want to graft it on a Falcon 20 (Mach 2) , to obtain the famous Carreidas 160 (Tintin, "flight 714 to Sidney"). But this is a long haul...

Well, I wait this interceptor Su-24 impatiently

QuoteI also have something similar in mind for a half finished Airfix MiG 23 as a phoenix build, I plan to delete the VG wing and put a Jaguar T.2 wing on it!

Now that would be something to see...  :o  I think I'll love this one, too...

My method for building the wing... I put the 3-view drawing on a WORD file, then extend it to the 1/72 scale size (calculated before). After that, I print it and use it as "model" to cut the wing into a styren sheet...

I've started the build this morning! I've just cut the wing roots of the VG system. There's two oval holes on the side of the fuselage, but the new wings and some putty will fill this hole soon... rest of the plane unchanged !!!

 Forget the T.6, do  the Carreidas jet!

Coolest-looking-biz-jet-ever!

...heck, the Grumman-Sukhoi (?) concept from some years ago should have payed some royalties to Hergé!

I'm a lucky guy! My girlfriend is from Mantes la Jolie and Mach 2 is established in Houilles, only 20 km away in the direction of Paris. Incredibly, Sharkit is established at Limay, once again not too far from Mantes.  ;)

I plan to return to Mantes in early february, maybe 'll try to make a stop at mach 2 on the way.

Hatchet, one of the few frenchmen here, J.C Carbonel already made a
cool-looking Carreidas. Pics on his website, aerostories http://modelbox.free.fr/dossiers/tintin/Carreidas_P/

If you like supersonic Bizjets, I've just made a supersonic Dominie. Yes, a supersonic  DH-125!! I use a lot of PSR, plus two Jag exhausts. Pictures next week

Archibald,
here is a 3-view of the T6-1 after the wing was modified with 72 degree anhedral tips.

Cheers, Jon

Archibald

MERCI !!!!!! That's exactly what I searched. Alas, it come too late, I made the wings yesterday evening ( worked until midnight!) . Result not too far from this 3-view, I'll see if I can improve the model with it
Thans again!

Don't know why (and when) they added these wingtips, but they stay on the prototype to our days. I watched some photo of the prototype now laying in Monino...  ^_^
I suppose that deleting the lift engines would change CoG. In my alternate Su-24 universe, lift engines are replaced by a ballast of concrete on the first prototype, and  by a fuel tank on production aircrafts.
In the end, the plane doesn't look similar to a TSR-2 at all!!
