Hi guys,

I'm currently putting together several Phantom FGR.2 side profiles for a story, sent to me by Greg - GTX, and I'm having a hell of a time finding good clear images of the following Squadron markings:

Number 419 Sqn Moose (to be done as Aggressors)
Number 433 Sqn Porcupine
Number 434 Sqn Bluenose

Any sort of good clear images of the Squadron markings would be greatly appreciated. Without them I can't really progress much.

Richard.

I am not Canadian (don't tell anyone) but did find these.

Philp:
Those are the unit heraldic crests and the Canadian Forces usually don't apply them to the aircraft.

Richard:
This link will take you to a review of a decal sheet that features the typical 434 SQN. tailband for a Sabre. Its dark blue with white edges and the white "Bluenose" ship in the middle. The tailband marking remained unchanged from the Sabre to the F-5 and to the Challenger and T-33s:

This is a link to a set of CF-5 profiles from a Belcher Bits decal sheet. it shows the two main variations of the 419 tail band from the F-5 era. there is the earlier light blue and red band with a brown moose in a red circle on it, or the later low visibility single shade grey band:

This is a link to a history page about 433 Squadron. If you scroll to the bottom of it, you'll find images of circular patches with a comical porcupine carrying a missile. This was 433's typical aircraft marking during the F-5 era, usually it was applied to the nose (as you can see in the F-5 picture on the page). Alternately, it could sometimes be seen on the intake where the roundel would normally be:

Got ya, talking the tail band like the Rut Zulus wore on their CF-5's when they showed up for Big Sky Day at Malmstrom.

Did find this one than,
