Your link opens the same "no link" image.  Try again  ;D

Wut?  :o Strange!  When I click it now, I get the same "no link" image. Even the URL in the browser address window will say something to that effect. Try highlighting my link, copy it, paste it into a new browser window/tab and hit "Enter". That should work! At least it did in my case.  ;D

Moritz

More than likely because you had the image in your browser's cache.

^ Don't think so. In that case it would've displayed right away when I re-visited the thread, wouldn't it? And it still won't display unless I copy the link and paste it into a new tab.

Ah, what the 'ell. Uploaded it to my PB account!

Thank you Moritz! I should have checked more carefully folks, and checked again after posting it.  :banghead: Didn't realize people were having trouble.

There were a few too many slashes in that URL.  Corrected and should work now.

^ Still doesn't work with a direct click! Still gets me the "no link" pic. Going the "copy and paste in a new tab" routine works.
The extra couple of slashes around "album" in the link came that way (right-click + copy image location) and were not added by me. Taking them out when pasting the URL into a new tab doesn't make any difference.

Ah, the internet (or computers in general). Sometimes they don't work and you don't know why. Most of the time they do work - and you still don't know why.

Obviously they are using the rewrite function in Apache to hide the real URL.  Some of us know how the internet and computers work.  ;)   Perhaps the easiest way round this would be use imageshack and having them host the picture for you via their URL function.

Even with my awful sense of scale, I don't suppose a B-52 could offer as much internal space as the Boeing 747 to support manned fighters, could it?

(Deleted existing post by mistake.  :banghead:)

When the Air Vectors article mentioned the form factor of a Zuni rocket for the parasite fighter's exclusive dogfighting missiles, I wonder which one it means...... might we be able to use the ASRAAM as a substitute?

Look a few posts above. ;) Already rehosted it in my PB account.

Tried to search online...... what I found on the width of the B-52's bomb bay ranges from 1.8m to 2.5m......

Guess I should stick with the Boeing 747 for the Microfighters (Air Vectors article states that the stowed span of the microfighter can be up to 5.36m)  :banghead:

How about the "ultimate air defense fortress", a huge aircraft that serves as AWACS, mobile SAM site, airborne aircraft carrier, & tanker? 747 & An-124 would be good candidates.

It didn't work for the US because they were thinking about power-projection with complex tasks that would last weeks. But it might work for the Soviet PVO on defensive patrol in remote Siberia, or provide AWACS service/escort for Tu-142.

I found this in philp's pictures from the Nats.  It was entered in the humor category, but I think it's fairly accurate, don't you?

Nice find.

When the B-One and B-2 are finally retired it will be a B-52 that picks up the ferry crews and returns them to their duty stations.
