Looking at the plans and photos, I reckon it'd be probably easier to build with bits cut off and card, filler, etc., than trying to acquire and then make buildable a crap resin conversion.

I quite fancy having a go at something with a daft engine, like that Soviet jobbie, but having the rear cockpit open for the gunner.....or the Orks?

Quotewhy not a Dart turbo-prop? RNZAF???
Stop reading my mind Radish!...Where's my tin-foil hat? :P

Awe that's good!!!!

Now then....1/48th Dart cowling??
Any starters?
How about thick tube? Knitting needle??
Hey babies, a Dart P-40 could be a goer

A Kiwi Dart P-40 would be even better! Perhaps for COIN duties in Vietnam? We did have 297 Allison and Merlin Hawks during the war, so any surplus could have been put in storage and then converted.......damn lack of 1:72 Dart cowling!

Radish

The Dart cowling is virtually, if not completely, cylindrical.
A friend did the Dart Dakota model once using cowlings produced from dowling "turned" on a lathe.

I'm thinking tube (for 1/72nd) or plastic knitting needles (often hollow) in 1/48th.
Spinner/prop? Spares box modified.

I think you could fabricate the Dart cowling using some old drop tanks or a piece of a dried-up pen as a starting point.

It will be the blending of the Dart tube into the P-40's fuselage that will drive you insane.

Trust me, I know.

I'm in!  A 1/72 Heller P-40 on floats!  Floats courtesy of an Airfix DeHaviland Beaver.  Maybe Soviet, maybe Chinese Communists, maybe Norwegian, since I need practice with masking and painting... I've got a big project currently underway, but I swear I'll meet the deadline.

That Centaurus jobbie would be incredible too, especially with a big contra-rotating prop!!

Gonna have to start a P-40 soon.
Just gonna have to.

V-tail "E" is a must, as well as a 2-seater Soviet, possible with a different engine.

Jet?? As per Black Ops thread.....mmmmmm??

Intergalactic??.....mmmmmmmmm??  <_<  <_<

Not quite intergalactic Rad, but I've got an X-wing in mind, well, sort of!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

How about blending a P-40M with a P-38L?   Remove the P-38 cental cockpit grafting on twin P-40 fuselage tops into the wing/boom area.  Tip tanks, gun pods, USMC Korea overall gloss sea blue, and some folding wings to boot.

Changed my mind on an X-Wing, (well I said sort of, it was going to be based on that Beech Pursuit Jon posted), going for a float plane instead.

How about hanging a BMW 801 off a spatted Hawk 75 and having it tootle about the skies in RLM colors....a genuine Hawkengruber!    :P

Daryl, a brilliant idea!  I'd love to see this one in plastic, maybe in Vichy markings?
