Here is a rough of what I'm planning, haven't worked out a bunch of the details but I'll kind of fake it as I go along.

I love the idea, but it might be simpler to use a P-36 instead - easier to convert from 'radial' to 'intake'.   ;)

Oh yes Jeff! What a great idea! I can see how the lower intake on a P-40 would work and with a little surgery (pass the razor-saw) and some putty you could mold that Sabre-type nose.

Looks every bit a whiff-winner!

I had considered this and might still go that direction but I was afraid it might not look enough like a jet. Sounds kinda silly to say but I  will see how it goes once I start building.

Here is the obligatory pre-production pic :)

Three weekends in a row I haven't got to touch my models, I am determined to get some building in soon!   I thought maybe if I at least took a picture of it the styrene gods might smile upon me and grant me some hobby time

That´s a really GREAT idea. May I suggest side by side 20mm cannons, something like Australian Sabres?
Are you using a tricicle landing gear?

Brilliant idea!!!
Hmmm we have to set up a GB "change a piston engine fighter into a jet in a way similar to the Yak-15...    "

Hmmm jet powered D-520... (jet bloch 152 already exist, it's the Ouragan  ;) )

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Good work Black, that's the business!  The only thing I would suggest is to extend the nose a couple of foot or so to give a bit more room for the jet, you then may or may not want to add a bit of slope to the nose to give the pilot better vision.  Saying that, I like to see aircraft that have obvious 'flaws', makes them more 'real'!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

  Love the idea, calling it an XP-40W or something...the jmn's are going to go nuts !

Captain Canada
