Tom, you could fair off the nose, add root intakes & pop a jet pipe in the tail, kind of P-80ish.  Or put a large intake under the wing fuselage joint.  You might need to widen the rear fuselage to suggest the presence of jet though.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I see no reason why more than one of us can't build a jet version. Heck it would probably be cool to see how different people handle the same subject.

Radish

Absolutely, Geoff.
Variety is everything I say.
I'm thinking of one with an incredibly long hooter!

Awesome!  :o
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Radish

Ah come on guys, how can I build that in 1/48th??

Going for a far more radical idea with a V-tail.....still jet though. (Among others!)

Anyone else thought "intergalactic"??

I know it's not a P-40, but I couldn't resisted...

So here's

... the jet Corsair !!!

Well, if you're going to hijack a thread, at least you're doing it with style!!!

That Corsair is SWEET!!!

Archibald

Merci, it's an hybrid made from wing palette profiles.

Here's what happen when a Corsair meet a FJ-3 Fury

I'm totally unable to draw anything correct on paper, even more using a computer, so I "glued" two profiles with powerpoint.

I "rebuild" a Hunter profile like this the other day.
Some more stuff like this and I could start my own profile thread in the dedicated section  ;)  of this forum...

I second that - the Jet Corsair is cool!.

Back to the original thread though - would a jet P-40 qualify for a Flying Tigers China'46 story?

Jeff, did you manage any time today for progress on this baby?
VERY intrigued by this one: you have my greatest hopes for your successful completion!

No modeling time today but tomorrow I have a clean slate and have been promised I can spend it on my models :)

I plan on getting my first Phoenix Build project completed tomorrow, working on my sci-fi ship and starting the p-40/jet. I'll post pics as soon as I have something to show, kinda sounds ambitious doesn't it  :dum:
