Hi all!

Amongst starting a new life I have found some time to model! The AU-1 is now at the painting stage and just before I do that I want to decide on a weapons fit so I can build, paint and decal those first :)

The over all info on what she's going to become:

USAF 56th SOW
"Sock it to 'em"
in-flight trolling for ground fire while on a Sandy mission over Laos...

Resting in the box...on the floor (my work bench):

Approximate bank angle pose:

And a look at the goods:

Any and all comments and crits are most welcome. BTW I know this plane would porbably not get off the ground I just like the looks :)

Is that instead of the Cavalier Mustang (the What if)?

:P  Forgot to add a post here last night!

On progress: I've managed to get some of the weapons cleaned up and I've drilled, cut and files my tip tank slots. In the pics below I have them mocked up as they still need to be sanded smooth. I'm also playing with the idea to drill out one of the noses of either the left or right tip tank and install an in-flight refulling probe, what do you guys think?

Enough talk on to the pics!

First up is a layout with the various weapons to be mounted on the model:

And the close up :) :

Three quarter:

And finally the pilot pulling out of a sweeping left hand turn trolling for fire:

As always comments and critques are most welcomed!

Looking good.  Like the tip tanks now.  Looks lots better than your original pic IMHO.

I wouldn't add the refueling probe, keep things as is.  Never saw a Spad lugging a refueler.  Heck, didn't need it.

I enjoy the stuff! It remember me an Atlantis (or some fictive country like that) P-51 Mustang JHM did some month ago!!

No doubt !

How did I miss this one ? That thing is fricking wicked ! I've never thought of the Corsair with tip tanks. That, coupled with the modern pilot, is sure doing it for me !

Gorgeous work, Damian.  I've got a question on the tip tanks: why centered like that rather than the underslung ones like the F-80 carried?

Hi all!!

I'm STILL busy with this sucker! In between learning to fly and "other projects" like my SAAF RA-4 Spyhawk and SAAF GR.3 Harrier. The Harrier started as a 1/48 Airfix FA.2 and a VERY badly warped GR.3 fuselage (THANX MOSSIE!!!!!!), I cut of the front ends and epoxied and puttied and super glued and cajoled them in place. Still ALOT of work to do there :). So the net-net is that I haven't spent as much time on her as I should have.

BUT not any more!

Last nite I hand painted my preshading (pics to come) and today I got the bottom colour on as well as paint and weathering on the rocket pods and paint on the drop tank and TER (pics to come)....

As for the tanks, the more I sat and looked at it the more I thought they'd look cooler centerlined. Also I want to do something similar with my future turbo-prop A-26 so i thought now would be a good time to practice, after all I'm no Eddie M or JHM :D

What about a single Aim-9 Sidewinder for self protection over the battlefield, against enemy fighters and interceptors (just as the A-10 carry`s)
