Hi all!

Amongst starting a new life I have found some time to model! The AU-1 is now at the painting stage and just before I do that I want to decide on a weapons fit so I can build, paint and decal those first :)

The over all info on what she's going to become:

USAF 56th SOW
"Sock it to 'em"
in-flight trolling for ground fire while on a Sandy mission over Laos...

Resting in the box...on the floor (my work bench):

Pilot in the office:

Approximate bank angle pose:

And a look at the goods:

Any and all comments and crits are most welcome. BTW I know this plane would porbably not get off the ground I just like the looks :)
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

In the words of Roger Daltrey: "I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it"!!!

What an amazing loadout! Who cares if she needs an extra R3350 to get her off the ground, she looks absolutely gorgeous! Those aerials really set it off for me, I can tell you. And seeing a pilot dressed in a getup like that, in a Corsair, how cool is that! Just makes the old girl look so modern!

Move over Spad, there's a new kid on the paddies! Wowza!

I can't wait to see what you do with the camo.

Damn that's nice mate

Looking forward to seeing it finished! (AACHOOO!!! Sorry, I seem to be allergic to that word ;) )

Oh yes! Thats what it was made for

Lookin' good -- nice loadout!

Only thing I would change are the wingtip tanks -- I think they'd look better right on the wingtips instead of under them. Just my opinion...

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

More into Flight Sim reskinning these days, but still what-iffing... Leading Edge 3D

Looking superb.

Colour scheme?
If you want to "ring the changes" on the usual SE Asia colours, why not check out ACIG for the El Salvador Corsairs....some great schemes, multi-coloured!!
Or,
check out the T-28 schemes of the USAF in Cambodia or the Phillipines AF?

I love it, it's wonderful.
So good to see a Corsair.

And under the wings??? DEATH!!

How about a sub saharan African airforce? I did a Nigerian one once. It was a bit boring in NMF though.

What is ACIG? I'd like a peak at those Corsairs.

Cool! A few years ago I did a SEA USAF AU-1. I'll have to post a pic or 2. I used a DC-6 prop on it & the back story I had was that it used the same engine & prop mod as the Counter Invaders, for parts commonality & performance. In the last couple of years, I did a 'Turbo Corsair', as a follow-on upgrade. I used A-37 tip tanks, mounted square on the tips & it looks 'right'.

Hate to be at the mercy of that sucker in combat ! Yikes, what a loadout !

*update*

Thanks for all the comments guys :D

no pics as yet, I'm busy cleaning up the ordinance and making the final decision on the tip tanks. I'll probably go with them mounted on the wing tips ala the Cavalier Mustang.

Rad - I'm doing a whole bunch of prop COIN planes (Mustangs, Corsairs, Harvard, T-28 and Skyraiders) in which I want to branch ut into the funky jungle cams worn in 3rd world countires. This one though will be "Sock it to 'em" in standard USAF SEA for the time.

ps. watch this space for some weird and wonderful camo Hatchet (aka Martin) and I have been discussing some real world twists :D

ACIG is:

http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/index.shtml

It's a site with super sections on Air Combat Information....

needs a full exploration!!

hi
looking good....but....how fast would it be with all the stuf? 150knots? ^_^
I like it....it looks really like a fighting machine....
I would think about a something shortened (you dont lenghtened the struts) skyrider prop to recompense the weight...
and the tip tanks attachment points should be reshaped like on the F-80....
waiting for the seac camo....!!!!

I don´t think it will fly slower than a full-loaden Skyraider, indeed <_< .
How about tiger stripe camo (that used in SEAL gruops in Nam)...
