A-10 Wingfold Question

Hey, does anyone have suggestions or links for a scratchbuilt wingfold?  I've got the wings on my USMC/USN A-10 hacked up, but I'm wanting to take my time on the fold to get it right.  Anyone here done this already?

Try asking wolfik - he does some of the best I've seen.  (and still owes us a tutorial on how he does it, I believe! )

In 1984  It's a dim distant memory now though.  Mine was Swiss Navy.  I used F-18 nose gear and twin wheels (and catapult launch bar).

Oooh!  I like that.  A Grumman style fold!  I did mine in the traditional 'up and over' way.

I like that example.  Thanks guys.  I was thinking of the up and over method, too.  Mostly what concerns me is the detailing inside the breaks.  I do have some photoetched brass from a 1/35 Panther kit that might be helpful, too.

The "Grumman" fold has the height advantage, the straight-up is simpler.

The clown one is just plain wrong, but in the best possible way.

Back when I first came to this fine group of miscrits   , one of my first musings was for a USMC A-10 with wingfolds. My ideas for such centered around the Seafire's dual-folding wing (one fold by the main U/C and then another at the wing tip), not sure if it's technically feasible, but it would look fricken sweet!

hi all
yes....I promised to show the way I go to make a simple and showable wing folds  
the best way to make a simple modern wing fold mechanism is to build the one from the Hawkeye.looks like the one from grumman but much sompler as the WW2 type...
another thing...
at friday night I called police because my neighbour (in the same house!!!!)  burgled into my cellar and purloined kits worth more as 450 euro and build these in the last weeks...some build kits from me are damaged and are stil missing.
he sayed to me ..."now you have some nice build kits!!!"
I would never noticed the burglary because all build kits are stored in shoe boxes as dust covers and the other unbuild kits are in big movement cardboard boxes...
but...this guy...returned the empty boxes and lied down highhandedly these...
after the day of thinking and speaking and thinking and speaking with myself I decided to open his cellars window...which was open and ajared because the smell from the paints...and saw my kit on his desktop...
the rest is clear....
saddly some nice rare limited boxes are missing ...
I wished I would live in north ireland...car thiefs get a knee shot....

To add to Wolfik's Hawkeye suggestion, here is a similar fold on the unbuilt S2F-4 'Super-Stoof'.


Wolfik, that is just bizarre, the guy stole your kits and 'built' them?!? Major league weirdness.
