Just doing various profiles and wondered about a group build for an 'Alternate' RAAF, RAN or RNZAF.  As poor form as this sounds, I won't be putting plastic in play due to my current circumstances but I'm more than happy to help with profiles for those requiring them or interested.

I thought that any competitors for the Mirage III or F-111G replacement would be a start, in addition to hypothetics on the shape of things to come (eg JSF and Super Bug).

John,

What sort of timeframe would you be thinking of for the GB?

Now what would I contribute - there are so, so many possibilities!?

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

I've always liked the idea of the Su-34 as a 'Vark replacement.  As I far as I know, Sukhoi proposed it to the RAAF but it was rejected on cost?  Anyway, I think it'd look great in the current dark grey scheme or for a more colourful one, that orange Caribou scheme would be the business!  A Su-34, in orange 'Bou scheme, roo's & western ordanance.....Mmmm!

Saying that, I think you mentioned the Viggen was a possible for the Mirage, I've got an Airfix 1/48 that needs an idea.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Check out my profile thread for a 'Fanta Can' Viggen, Mossie, don't look half bad.

As for time frames, that's more of an administrator deal i reckon, they'd b better suited how long a given GB could run without interfering too much with other projects.

An Su-34... can't imagine how they'd nuke it on costs, Russkies are pretty keen to get dollars into their accounts at the best of times, so I can't see 'em trying to squeeze the cash out.  I'd more think it was a blue-suit saying "No! Not Russian" then a politico following up with 'costs'.  Still, 'Fullback' in Aussie camo, now there's something that just sounds sexy.  Gonna have 2 find a Fullback 3view now...

Totally OT but speaking of Roos and Russians,

a bro of mine in the prison service was an ex Warrant Officer in the Soviet Army's Air Defence units.  We used to think it was pretty hysterical an ex-RAAFie working with an ex-Soviet SAM operator.  Used to make for most excellent convos when nothing was going on.  This of course was the same guy that during initial training for the prison asked why we didn't have automatic rifles...?  Hysterical, especially in his accent and he was serious, most of us sorta lost it at that point!
