Hi fellows,
Here it is, coming along quite nicely. Sprayed with sand yellow and Agama RLM 79. The RLM 79 doesn't really look blue at all; sort of a purplish light grey. Maybe because it's old paint. The Agama stuff is really quite good and I wish I could get more of it here in OZ. I was even tempted to brush it on but decided to press on with the airbrush. You would have been proud of me.
The nosecone has been sprayed white and will be attached later.
There's no particular reason for the RLM 79 tail assembly; it was just a whim but looks pretty good all things considering.
Now to put on the decals and here are the possibilities I've assembled.
I've sprayed a piece of clear decal dark green and am toying with the idea of using some scissors to chop it into little triangles and squares and then painstakingly apply them all over the uppersurfaces of the plane.
But then again I may not have the patience to do that. Suggestions anyone?
I have some decals of Priller's plane (Jutta ) so may use that or give it Christl and call it Barkhorn's. Then again I may use the orange triangles on the nose as I've got lots of them left over.
Actually I have almost 600 grams of decals lying around, lots of it German, so if you're after something please give me a shout as I might have it.
The book is a new acquisition bought from Amazon. It arrived from the UK in only 4 four working days!!!!

Very cool....very exciting.
Looking forward to further progress shots, Allan.   ^_^
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Allan,

The RLM 79 looks about right, the color for the undersurfaces should be RLM 78 (a deeper blue than RLM 65), the paint you have chosen looks too gray to me. But remember paints exposed to the elements in the desert would fade out very quickly and the colors you use depends on if you are doing a factory fresh a/c or one that has been in service for a long time.

Looking forward to seeing the finished model!

GTX

Allan,

Looking good.

On the topic of the book - how would you rate it?  Also, how does it compare to the "Luftwaffe Secret Projects" series (see here, here and here.)

Regards,

Greg
All hail the God of Frustration!!!

BlackOps

Allan, it looks great so far :)    I would sure be tempted to put tan or brown tiger stripes on her!

Here she is again--decalled as Priller's plane. Now to put her aside to dry overnight and then wash off the decal glue. Musn't forget to add the black part of the swastika, too.
Don't forget that the game plan is to cover the uppersurfaces with billions of teensy pieces of triangular and square green decal.

Thanks for your enthusiasm fellows. It's a fun build.
Hi Rafael--doors open I think--that way would look much better.
Hi GTX--this book is to my mind better somehow that the Secret Projects book, although both of them have the same aim. Both books are wonderful for looking at sitting on the sofa with a coffee on a rainy day though.
I much prefer the single seat fighter projects than bombers or all-weather aircraft. The vertical take off jobs with the annual wing are stunning. Can't wait to see Vol 2 because that will have Lippisch projects in it!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I like this painting. Wainting desperately.
Will die without understanding this world.

Decalling complete with swastikas done, nose cone inserted but not glued and model cleaned.

Now for annointing it with matt varnish and starting on the green decal. Think it'll be enough?

Hi all,
By the way this Saturday is the 63rd anniversary of the Great Escape. Spare a few quiet thoughts and prayers for the murdered 50 please.
Here's the plane with some of those green decals on and Mr Mark Softer as well. Hope they settle down well. I think they'll look okay after some Testor's dullcoat down the track.

That's the wife's finger pointing the way.
