Flygindustri Trollet [The Troll]

Background:
AB Flygindustri in Halmstad, Sweden, developed in the early 1940's a small fighter aircraft for the Royal Swedish Air Force. Being a small, neutral country in the war-thorne Europe, Sweden had difficulties in buying aircrafts from abroad. Most contracts were cancelled and the hope rested on domestic industry.

Final test flights were conducted at F 14 Wing in Halmstad in December 1944, and production started just before New Years holidays.

It became very popular and a total of 343 planes were manufactured. In the last months of WWII, two squadrons were put up for use by Danish Air Force pilots in exile, but during pilot training, the war ended.

52 surplus aircrafts were later sold to the Imperial Ethiopian Air Force and 13 found its way to the Dominican Republic.

It's design consists of a pair of wings from a FW-190 and tail with stabs from a CAC Boomerang. Fuselage comes from the cap of an insulin injection pen. The propeller were found in my spare part box.

After removing most of the old paint, I started the building.
The rear part had a angled part removed to fit better towards the wings. Then glued together.

Now it was time to build the fuselage. The cap to the insulin pen were shortened and used as the front part. The rest of the cap were split and used as sides for the cockpit.

After quite much filling and sanding I had something that looked like an aircraft.
Time for primer. As usual with Scandinavian Paints grey primer in rattle can.

After drying, the under surfaces were brush painted in Humbrol 124 (petrol blue). Top surfaces were painted in Humbrol 30 (matt dark green).

Now it was time for the restored landing gears to come into position. Not retracted as I originally thought, but in out position.

And then it was time for some cooling holes for the engine.

After some paint touch-up after the drilling, it was time for the propeller.
