How about using C-27Js as carrier onboard delivery plane? A C-130 could land on a carrier, so why not? Or perhaps that CASA C-235?

Not quite. Lear borrowed the wing design from the FFA P-16, and designed the first Learjet (type 23) around it. That wing was used for the 23, 24 and 25. Only the 25 is still in production, it seems. Later Lear designs use a different wing.

Yup, but lear-25s could be used on carriers carrying LGBs, ASMs, ECMs, torpedoes or refueling gear   and how about a mini awacs based on the learjet? Or a tanker?

A competitor to Scaled Composites Space Ship 2, is based on the Learjet 25. It has a rocket engine in the aft cabin.......

A bit of a correction here.  The P-16 wing is the basis of the wings of the Lear 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 31, 35, 36, 55, and 60.  Only the Lear 45 uses an all-new wing.  The Lear 35 & 36 have constant section tip extensions and the others extend the same basic structure and contours out and then form the winglets.

The Lear 25 can carry 8 passengers, say a 640 kg payload. That's not much. And that's for the civilian version. A naval version would be heavier (stronger structure) which would reduce the payload.

What about a lear-45?

There's many things a bizjet would do on a carrier air group.

- ASW (if the S-3 did it...). Naval Falcon "guardian" ?
- COD / VIP of course
- tanker
- EA-6 replacement (at least, standoff jamming)
- AWACS
- antiship

How difficult would it be to navalize, for example, a Falcon 20 or a Learjet ?
Can you imagine one of those sweet Gulfstreams on board a carrier ?
Pilatus or TBM-700 on board CVF ?

the idea has merit.  I've always been a fan of bizjet designs, just never wanted to make 'em in civvie colours.

I always thought a DHC Buffalo or Caribou with folding wings would be a great COD a/c.

Never thought about navalizing a Canadair Challenger, tho. Might be an idea !

Often thought about it, specifically a USN carrier based Learjet (as far back as the early 90's for that one).  Only thing is I doubt the airframe and gear could take one cat launch, let alone a trap.

Having said that, though, I think it was Fokker proposed a Fokker 90 as a COD/tanker at one point.  I know the BAC146 had a carrier based design proposed along with all the other abortive military variants.
