That particular B66 had a bunch of tiny holes put int the wing to duct air from the leading edge to the more rearward sections, thereby keeping the constant flow of smooth, or Laminar, air over the wing.

Pain in the butt really as it was very complicated to build & maintain.

ho my friends, the americans might have pimped the noses of those planes, but we do have the same thing here in Europe: meet the C-47B "Pinocchio"
a C-47 with an F-104 radar in the nose
these C-47's were modified by the German company "Hamburger Flugzeugbau" by adding a Lockheed F-104G nose-cone, which inevitably gave them their nickname "Pinocchio". Belgium had 2 of these, and Canada also had 2.

here's a Belgian one.  B)

Pratt and whitney canada uses a Boeing 707 for testing engines. It fits one engine in the nose, and one on the side of the fuselage

the italians [and some of the other european F-104 operators] had these too iirc.

there was also a USN T-39 used for airtesting the radar for the F-18A/B and i think
the USAF in the 1960's had a T-39 variant used for training in the use of NASARR
[something also to do with F-104's and F-105's].

i haven't seen a photo of the 1960's T-39 NASARR but the USN T-39 was widely
photographed in the late 1970's and early 1980's.

I would be all over a resin conversion for the Supercritical Wing F-8 in a heartbeat, regardless of scale!  I can't believe it hasn't been done to date...  Saw that for the first time at Edwards back in 1984.  Gorgeous!

Sharkit has made a F-8 "supercritical wing"  ;)
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
