Then you could build it as a SR-71 replacement!!!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Or a P-40 with 2 turbojets podded like a Me-262?

P-40 with merlin and turbocharger?

Naval P-40 with twin-wasp?

Long range escort P-40 with clipped wingtips and 4 blade prop, and P-40N canopy with malcom bubble for pilot?

Great minds think alike
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Zac, found a source for the Dart engine your after.  Maquette do a 1/72 ex-Frog Handley Page Dart Herald.  Being an old Frog kit it'll probably be less than fantastic, but should do you okay.  And with two engines you can probably make two Dart P-40's!  Or swap one with someone who want's to make a Cavalier Turbo Mustang.
