Hi folks,

Does anyone know if there is a kit or conversion available to create a 1/48 EA-18G (including with the wingtip pods)?

What's that pod (missile?) on the wingtip?

PolluxDeltaSeven

For the pod, this is a jammer pod, as far as I know.

For the kit, there's a 1/48 kit by Italeri

Wingtip Pods are wide-area frequency detector thingies (cant seem to find any specifin info on them).

Italeri makes a 48th kit, and it would not be too difficult to bash one in 72nd.

'sides, 72nd is 'Divine Scale'

About the EA-, what except for the wing pods, are the differences too an -18F?  I can see the cannon's been deleted, no surprise, but beyond that???  Must be a lot of internal mods I guess.

I understand they are part of the ALQ-218(V)2 ELINT system.

Is it just me or does the space between the Harm and the wing tip seem kinda empty? Why don't they stick another pylon under they and add some more offensive capability like JDAMS, SDBs, JSOWs, JASSMs, or some more AMRAAMs/Sidewinders or self defence.

Because that over the wing hingline, for whatever reason pylons are nolonger placed on the folding portion of the wing.

Besides, the cheek stations still have raamers ;)

Probably because the wing structure has been beefed up in the outboard section, and thus structure weight increased, to allow for carrying that big pod on the wingtip.

Cheers, Jon

It's not only on the G, both the E and the F dont have pylond over the hingline, same goes for most if not all modern USN aircraft.

I just wish they made an EW version of the F-15E!

You may get your wish, *if* the AF cant get the B-52 SOJ off the ground.
