Only used for evaluation, the P-38Y was sent to England in 1943 to test it in combat. It had a little success, mainly as the German pilots lost their way, on seeing the airplane.

Model : Airfix 1/72 P-38 (butchered)

Great idea!!  To *really* make it wif, move the starboard engine to the rear, and put a glass-enclosed gunner's position in the front nacelle, like the Bell YFM Airacuda!!
