Which Iranian F-14 scheme should I use on my Iranian Su-34?

Southeast Asia (tan, green, brown)
17 (37.8%)
Blue-gray (two tone, the new scheme)
28 (62.2%)

I'm building RoG's 1/72 Su-34 in Iranian markings as part of my Persian Gulf arms race scenario, but I'm torn about which camo to paint it in. I've narrowed it down to the schemes the IRIAF has used on their Tomcats:

1)Southeast Asia brown-tan-green scheme. Makes sense for low-level, over land strike missions.

2)The new gray-blue scheme. Makes sense for strike missions over the Persian Gulf.

Anyone have any ideas?

How did the country lose its way...when did we stop rooting for the man with a flame-thrower or an acid-spraying gun of some kind?

Well, I've established that I firmly believe that greens are for dirt, while blues and greys are for the machines that soar!

Besides, their new scheme for their Mig-29's and F-14's is pretty sharp.

You'd be doing most of your work overland, I'd be guessing.......the new blue/ gray camos are just too 'toylike' if you ask me. Real warplanes wear green !

I went for the Southwest Asian scheme.I did a profile of the Flanker family awhile back in Iranian colors, maybe this will help.

I would go with the grey-sand scheme seen on there Fulcrums

I would go with the blue/grey scheme and do it as an Anti-shipping version over the the gulf.

I like the blue-grey sceme. But thats just me.

DropBear

That Mig29 wrap looks good.

Of your two choices though, the first sounds most realistic for your scenario.

David,

as others have indicated, it really depends upon the expected role/scenario you see the aircraft being used.  I would imagine an Iranian Su-32 (Note this is the official designation now used by Sukhoi) would be used in the anti-ship role against Western Carriers and thus have voted for the Blues.

Well,if we're talking Antiship, why not go with the Iranian Navy style overwater blue camo like on their P-3Fs,Sea Kings and RH-53Ds.I think that may be more effective then the F-14 style blue camo.

I'm with SoD (Hmmmm, unfortunate acronym  ;) ), on this one, a rich blue grey (FS 35237 - the darkest tone in the US Navy TPS scheme) and a pink sand tone for the topside with a paler blue grey (FS36320 - Dark Compass Grey) on the underside....

....OR

Use all three in a wraparound scheme...... Well, David, you did ask

I say (and voted) blue!

McGreig

Blue might look better but tan/green/brown seems more realistic and that's what I voted. But Iranian F-14A's Southwest Asian scheme would be my ideal choice.

Dagnamnit!!!  :dum:  Hit Null Vote by accident, but count me as SEA, I don't mind being in a minority!

I'd love to see a Fullback in Aussie markings as a F-111 replacement, with roo's & the 'Bou (or Tigre & NH90 markings that Gregs putting them in) style SEA camo!

PS, IAF F-14, your new Avatar gives me the willies, Frank has always freaked me out big style!!!!!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Blue/grey-sand is the best of both worlds, there for it wins!!! :P
