I bought an Tamiya Nissan R390 GT1 for this very reason, just haven't decided on which nationality I'm going to use.

QuoteRadish,

As an aside, the Agip colours used by Ferrari during the late 1970's and early 1980's would look great on a racing Macchi 205 eh?

As a further aside I'm working on a Flying Machines Re 2005 as a Scuderia Ferrari raceplane circa 1947.
With Alfa badging and quadrifoglio, of course.

Cheers, Jon

Howabout staying in the Land of the Rising Sun and going for a 244th Ki 61?

It just struck me how very nice a Mercedes 500 SL Gull Wing might look in the 70s era German navy two grey scheme like on their F-104s.

How about a Mini Cooper in Raspberry Ripple?

I'd be tempted to do a Lada in old Communist era Aeroflot markings....

Seem to have struck a chord here, and of course, there's always the "cross-over" of doing military stuff in airline or car colours.

But back to the cars......I'm getting onto that I think.
I can see one or two appearing, and some of the Nissan/Toyota stuff can be bought cheaply and JAAF colours can look so nice.

What about a silver Mustang, Blue Bonnet and Red spoiler from the Blue Noses?

Lovely looking Ki-61 by the way.

Meanwhile....doing the first...

based on the Italeri 1/35th VW Model 87, which is a Beetle with the 4xwheel-drive of the Kubelwagen and a fold-back roof panel. Big sand-types are provided in the kit as an option (together with some figures and a fuel drum too). Decals in the kit are Africa Korps, Luftwaffe JG53, British Army of Occupation, and for one of the German Colony thingy that drove a couple of these from Berlin to Afganistan in 4 weeks. They couldn't return as we took over Persia with the Soviets. These cars were gloss cream.

Anyway....mine'll be JG53 "on tour".
The kit JG53 decals can be used (they're for JG53 in Italy, with the standard tyres also provided).
Mine will be sand with a yellow bonnet, white rear stripe and appropriate badges, crosses, etc.
The main "addition" will be a large parasol sunshade (from those drinky things) emblazoned with a Swastika.

I've test-fitted the main body-shell to the chassis, and the fit is fine. I can spray the body-shell white tonight, giving a good undercoat for the bonnet (yellow) and providing the rear white stripe or stripes.
Everyth :ar: ing else will be handpainted.
Should be fun, and I'll build it all tonight ready for painting everything tomorrow.
Decals Thursday, and all done by Thursday night for IPMS Stafford's meeting. If I can, I'll make up a couple of figures.

The kit is the same as released by CMK (who also do other versions), but with the addition of figures, etc..

Fun, eh? :ar:

I've one of the VW1303S "Super Beetles" from IMAI upstairs in the loft, and fancy doing that one "SS", in gloss black with some runes and chrome.
I've also got a VW1303S "Cabriolet" from the same company.....it'll be a German one of course, perhaps I can add some armament and militarise it?

Other CMK/Italeri 1/35th Beetles can be:

Israeli Army
Croation....militarised?

I shall be on the look-out for car thingies at Hinckley and other model shows too.

Oh yeah! Rommel meets The Road Warrior!

Imagine a cabrio bug with the back seat replaced with a mortar launcher or some such.

Or better yet, try to reeplace the backseat of that cabrio bug with one of these!

QuoteCadilac El Dorado in SEA with a big set of Texas steer horns on the hood, camoflaged as an ox in a rice paddy?
There used a be car (think it was a Ford Fiesta) around the corner from my wifes parents that was painted black & white like a freisan cow!  Also, a red Ford Ka at the end of our street (last house we lived in, probably still there) was painted with black spots like a ladybird!

Used to see a promotional vehicle for a military surplus company in black/green British Army style camo, it was a big American pick up, a Dodge or Chevy or something like that.  A common(ish) sight in the UK is ex-military Land Rovers that have been released for civilian sale, still in their camo.

Oh yeah, although I can't find a pic anyway there used to be plenty of Mod Minis in the sixties with RAF style roundels.

Rad, if you want a New Beetle, I've got a 1/24 Revell kit that's just gathering dust.  It's partially built & theres a headlight missing which I why I stopped building it, but I wasn't that bothered about it, & was only building it to pass the time.   Let me know, it's yours if you want it.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

There's always this AMC Gremlin with the 1980s colors of Continental Airlines:

Great ideas all.....I need to look for a Triumph Spitfire which was always my favourite Sports Car, along with the TR series and the GT6.

Meanwhile that AA Airlines looks fantastic!

And I'm reay for spraying!!
The body shell has had its few additions and I've built the chassis. I've dryfitted the top to the bottom too.
After painting it'll just need wheels and transparancies....oh and the windscreen wipers of course.

And the parasol.
I've just sorted that out and will spray it at the same time as the white body shell.

The chassis/interior will be black and then drybrushed to weather!

Oooooh, this'll be a belter, and with luck, I'll actually finish in time!!!

It won't let me link to the search, but Kingkit do a 1/24 TR4 as well.

Can't find a Spitfire I'm afraid.
