Lucas Film are quite the group of magpies. <_<

The gun nest would have been bolted to the front spar and protruded through the leading edge of the fuselage/wing.

Captain Canada

Wow, is that thing ever a neat looker ! Looks like a bit of a speed demon. Where would they keep 5000 rounds of ammo ?

Mmmmm----->  That lends to an idea for Academy's misshapen P-38E in 1/48.

Neato, a very interesting aircraft above!

Superb aircraft, reliable engines (Griffons) high performances, heavy armement = the ultimate british fughter design!!!

Can you imagine a jet variant of this one ? With swept wings ????  :o
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Except that it had a failing common to many of Miles 'high performance' designs... the wings were too bloody thick. The 17% thickness wings would have made reaching 500+ miles per hour a doubtful proposition.

Exactly Where would you keep your "Dead Soldiers" in flight ;)  ,Toss em out the canopy??? lol
As for the armament Balistics wise 10x303's while sounding impressive isn't that a tad weak for the space used??? I believe you could pack the P-47's 8 Browning M2's in the same space with the same 500 rounds per gun which would hit Quite a bit harder wouldn't it??? I have been to a couple of my gun club's "Belt Fed Weekends" and have seen the browning .30 & .50 in action and I'll tell ya a .50 Chews up a steel 55 gal drum a Hella bit more than the .30 or the MG 38/42. Theres another event due this June I'll try to get pics of these Brutes in action and some before and after shots of the drums during the "red flags" on the range
"Panzer"
PS red flags are the intervals in which the safety officials call for ALL gunners to clear their Breech and allow a cooldown period and it is safe to check the target zone noone is allowed to be behind their weapon at this time and the safety guys are downright MIDEVIL on any Violation of safty rules at this time (Most of them are off duty law enforcement guys anyway) and I have never seen Anyone have to be Repremanded(and chance the loss of their class 3 firearms licence NO FREAKIN WAY)
