Hi fellows,

It's pathetic I know but this photo shows my complete and total stash of unmade kits.

I have a Sabre there, so maybe in the markings of Don Gentile or as Kobayashi's plane with silver and green blotches.

The Dornier nightfighter looks good, but will need a lot of cockpit work and I don't think I'll have the patience.

What about the two seater MIg 21 as a nightfighter with lozenge camo?

How about swapping out the noses between the MiG-21 and the Me-109?

Thinking out loud:
Mig21 with wings and tail from the Do335.
Jets form the 262 on your Me410(?).
Captured or licence build versions of some of the others maybe.

Use some of the jet engines and lifting surfaces to make a Super Akagi, a hydrofoil/WIG/aircraft type thingy with deathrays and stuff.

A rummage through Tophe's stuff might be a good place to look for inspiration for a lot of the other kits.

Just my 2d  :)

Add some Jumo 004 jet engines to the Do 335 wings and remove the front engine and replace it with heavy cannon, it would make a good Zerstorer/Nightfighter. :D

Then put the Do 335 front engine on the Me 410 and add a tricycle landing gear to it and you would have a fine Schnellbomber!

Hi fellows,
I've decided to something, but I'm not sure just what, with the Revell 1/72 Dornier 335.
It's a big, strong, hefty kit and will make a pleasant change to the delicate Me-1101 I've just finished. Theundercarriage is also very simple and sturdy.
And, I turned up some unused parts of a Mustang PE set that I had lying around The fret includes two seats and one instrument panel. Just the ticket to make a good beginning.
I'm leaning towards something in Japanese markings, but that's pretty far down the track.
If anyone has useful info, photos etc on the 335 cockpits, please PM me or include it here.
Thanks fellows.

Allan,

Try here and here.  I can also check my offline references if you need more info.  Please let me know if there is anything specific.

With all those Bf/Me-109s and Fw-190s, you could always bash together some sort of Zwilling.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of combining the Akagi with assorted airplane parts to make "Space Aircraft Carrier Akagi" a la Yamato.

QuoteI'm leaning towards something in Japanese markings,

Allan,

If you go with the Japanese version, how about doing it as a high speed carrier based torpedo bomber/recon aircraft (or even nightfighter) in colours similar to these:

Looking at that last pic I'm thinking gunship.... hmmm, German VTOL project??? :D

Matrix mentioned a jet version, there was the Do.435 mixed power version as well as the P.256 with wing mounted pods just as he mentioned.  Unicraft do conversions for both:

P.256: http://www.luft46.com/tpart/tp256.html
Do.435: http://tanks45.tripod.com/Jets45/Histories...Do435/Do435.htm

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Allan, ever considered naval whiffs?

That Akagi you have there would make a nice Ohka-launching platform - remove a part of the flight deck, build a bunch of Ohkas and launch platforms on hangar deck and there it is: IJN heavy manned-missile cruiser. Proto-Kirov.

Baldrick: I followed Mr Da Vinci's instructions to the letter.
Blackadder: Even though you can't actually read.
Baldrick: No, but I have done a lot of Airfix models in my time.

If you go Japanese with the 335 why not do a post war captiulation (sp?) machine with the white crosses?

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.
