Yet again the real world can provide inspirations - the following is a Bücker Bü 181 that was armed with 4 Panzerfaust:

Here's an article you might find of intrest if you want a Musketeer. The article is on pages 9 and 10 of this IPMS Ottawa newsletter and the modeler based it on the Airfix Cherokee:

Did I miss something or did the builder not post pics of his finished model? Considering how not close the 2 a/c are dimensionally, & I don't have AMS, it sounds like it looks like a Cherokee with Musketeer parts (incorrect, as well) painted like a Can. Musketeer. Maybe why I didn't see pics of the model......

I found an interesting article on the origin of the "Biafra Babies" that were flown by a group of volunteers, Carl-Gustaf Von Rosen being one of the better known of the group.  The site where this article is located was created by Henric Lund and is called Bellum.  There are many other interesting subjects to read as well.

General Jumbo!  They'd dropped him by the time I was reading Beano in the 80's but he still cropped every now & then in specials & annuals.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Cheers Joe - that's interesting.

Are those guns the standard 2 x 7.5mm MGs or something else?

I thought I'd posted them here, but here's a few pics of the NDN Firecracker.  It was built by Nigel Norman of Britten-Norman Islander fame, but it never really gleaned much interest in the face of more established competition.  All these pics in COIN Style schemes.

Always thought it was a shame that UK PLC didn't support the Firecracker (which was a perfectly good aircraft AFAIK) given that the trainer market is lucrative... :banghead:

I think part of it was that no-one was really interested in the piston engined variety, it's engine & faired canopy were so yesterday, then when the turboprop came along it was a little bit of too little too late.  UK Plc then backed Shorts with the Tucano, okay, not a home grown product but it was still jobs for the boys.

Anyone know what kind of rockets are mounted on the first firecraker?

Have seen something similar on a Defender.

personally, i thing the tirst Belgian designed trainer, the Promavia Squalus would be a good platform for a FAC/COIN aircraft (first picture)

however, my preference go to the planned tandemseat version (2nd picture) witch was designed in cooperation with RSK MIG and Boeing  <_<

They look  like Oerlikon 80mm SURAs. The fins are on a sliding ring around the body, and interlock to stack them. When the bottom rocket fires, it slides through it's fin-ring until a lug at the back picks the latter up and unhooks it from the next rocket up.
