I guar-ron-tee something you never seen before.
Here's the start.

Now, I'm very much liking the sound of that....  :drink:

I shouldn't have opened my big mouth. I does look very much like a modern aircraft to me, but it gonna have a bit of a different edge to it. I made the airscoop out of the spine a 1/72 Tomcat derelict. I may enter this as my second project for the Junkyard GB.

Will die without understanding this world.

This build is moving along pretty quick. I've got most of the fuselage work done. Now, I'm working on the armament, prop, exhaust. It'll be displayed gear up, so no need for mw to worry about that. I may try a display in a fashion that's new to me. Still working that out. Here's what I've got.

Nice looking work so far. I what-iffed a SuperStang I call an "Appaloosa". [see pic]

I took a 1/64 snap-tite Monogram Mustang and mated the wings to appropriate fuselage halves of a Twin Mustang. Now I have a slightly "oversized" (elongated and slightly bigger-winged) Mustang. Adding the wingtip rocket-pods-and-fuel-tanks (always thought that was a risky combination--but hey, they did it on the F-89 Scorpion) and bombs it becomes a kind of "Skyraider". The engine is a hypothetical Merlin-style V-16 with a late-model Spitfire 5-bladed prop. The camo is a "real" camo scheme tried out on early-model P-51's. I made dozens of black-triangle decals at various angles to pick from.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Thanks, Eddie. Here is the only other picture I have of it. MOST of my models were highly damaged in a move--small, or delicate parts broken off, and I have not yet had the time to laboriously repair them nor do I want to photograph them in their damaged condition.

With this view you can see a little of the underside (same camo as sides). The topside is all Olive Drab, with the only nat'l insignia being a white-only star-and-bar on the top left wing. I wish I had put a "normal" P-51 next to it to show off the differences. On a hard surface like a shelf, the bombs (purported to be 2,000-lb-ers) don't hang so perilously close to the "pavement", but the soft HO-railroad "grass" mat used for the photo allows the wheels to sink in and make it look like the bombs might drag or spark as the aircraft took off (wouldn't want THAT, now, would we?)!

My only question on your Lanky Stang project is: how tall of a seat will you need to allow the pilot to see over the nose when he lands???

BTW, CUUUUTE gal you have in Elena!

Eddie, this project is coming along nicely. I can't help but wonder if elbow macaroni would be in scale for you exhaust? just reminded of macaroni when I saw your pics and wondered if it might not have worked.

Hmmmm, now I seem to be craving macaroni and cheese, maybe I shouldn't read the boards when I'm hungry ;D

Sequoia, nice looking build, the Appaloosa name fits it well.

Thanks for the photo! That is pure coolness squared!

The Lanky Stang would have to be a tricycle landing gear to work, but since I'm doing it gear up, all i have to do is draw the doors on at the end. ;D

Thank you! That's a good idea about the macs. I'll remember that for my next super sized engine.

This thread had been dead for some time, so you almost had the whole play ground to yourself. Personally, I'm glad Tanktastic43 brought this one back so I could see Sequoiaranger's creation. Bravo!
