King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Howard of Effingham

this rocks nicely gregers and i think is the second RAF U2 to appear on this site.
someone did a 39 sqn one some months back, iirc.

are you gonna have retractable outriggers as some have suggested?

i like the revised nose arrangement. it looks just right.      ^_^

Cheers Guys, yup, retractable outriggers and the lumpy bits on the nose will be camera pods, I'm thinking of maybe some sort of ECM fit on it too. progress has been made since the last pic and more will be done tonight. pics to be taken and posted later today hopefully.

all the best.

Sorry there have been no update pics guys, my camera has gone missing. slow progress of late but some of the little bits like undercariage have been painted, a little filling has been done and i am still racking my brains about the ECM fit, any suggestions?. ALQ119 maybe?. what would suit a high altitude bird?.

all the best.

With the spine you could fit the ASPJ like the F-16F or the Rapport-III fitted to the F-16D blk.52+  (ie the Fatback 2 seaters ;) )

Good thinking Shas, cheers, i am thinking of maybe something dangling under the fuselage or inner wing?. or even atop the tail fin. though what ever gets planted up there will have to be very lightweight as the real aircraft was built as light as possable and strength would be an issue on the fin attachment points due to the leverage of the ECM atop of it. we'll see, anyways, i am incorporating your idea onto the Albatross PR1a. (needs new designation now something has changed  ;)  )

Ok, then either the ALQ-119 or one of the various ALQ-169 pods would work (depends on what time frame you're looking at, from what I gather the -119 is no longer used by the US)

Thinking of GW(Bush) war 1 .  ;)  era. and the RAF getting hand me down equiptment from the USAF sounds about right to me. the 119 it is then. cheers for the input mate.

Will have a look at that idea Geoff, cheers, i have ditched the ALQ119 because for some reason it doesn't look right no matter where i try it. even afer painting it to match the U2 it looks odd. skyshadow being smaller could work. nice one.

I looked through my bits box and couldn't find the sky shadow i know was in there. I have re-looked at the ALQ119 idea and decided it doesn't look out of place if its near the wing root and poking out slightly on a short pylon, so i made the pylon out of plastic card and the ALQ is on. more painting has been done and hopefully i will find a way of getting piccies on here as my camera is no where to be seen.

all the best.

No way, Greg, keep on whiffing! That's a really neat looking U-2 and a very subtle whiff. I particularly like all the added bumps and what-not as well as that waaaay cool color scheme! Looks great!

So believable that even the most die-hard skeptic would be convinced.

Really good job.  Now, need more pics (please)!
