With the scramble to get Sheila over and done, it's time to get back to the carrier!

The first two sponsons are on, as well as some more doohickeys on the sail:

More doodads on the sail...you just have to love photoetch!

Okay, this might be out of left field, but since you are a whiz at weathering old aircraft, maybe you could put a few recovered artifacts (airplanes, midget subs, etc.....) on deck as if they had been raised for research of their history. Just a thought. :)

Hey now...isn't that a good concept???  Love it!

   Proditor, thanks, but disturbing. Chuckle.

With the project almost (almost) completed, here is a shot of the tilley:

That carrier looks great! The little truck is a work of art, too. You should add some 1/400 scale resin figures.

Greg, I saw your in progress pics of the tractor but never would have guessed it was for your Research Carrier. Too Cool! I can't believe I'd forgotten about this project  :banghead:

thanks!  I have a friend who is just wrapping up an incredibly detailed build of the Nimitz, and the tilley that came with the kit was a joke. He called asking if I knew where he could buy a better version, and after looking on the net, there were none to be found.  So, I decided to scratch one, and make a mold, then start casting them. This is the first one, I am pretty happy with it. He bought one for his kit, and I've sold two more since.
20 or 30 more, and I can break even ! LOL.

If you cast some nice 1/72 scale spats, I guarantee you'll break even, maybe make a profit, too.

Nice crane by the way!

That's a great looking Tilly! I used to drive the 60K Tilly back in my day. The new ones are rated for 70K.

A tilley (tilly, tillie??) with spats? Now, there is a big seller!  I still have to do all of the rigging. The Mrs.'s hair should do the job.
