Would scratchbuilt parts from other, failed projects be considered spare parts?

QuoteI remember someone (JHM?) linking to a similar GB on Starship Modeller several years ago.  Their variation was that everyone sent all their assorted junk parts to the mod, who sorted through them all, then posted a selection of bits to all the participants.  Any of the SSM guys like to further enlighten us?
I knew I shoulda looked at this one sooner.

What the SSM GB was was the Box O' Stuff Challenge.  It went pretty much as you describe it, though it had some very interesting results.

They started Round 2 this past June.

Here's a link to the current challenge.

Here's a link to the original 2004 challenge.

BTW, edited the Calender to get this one onto it, as well as a few others.

We're actually trying to shorten GB timeframes in order to get more of them in during the year, and still keep participation up.  The way it's setting up is we'll have on average three going at a time.

After the next two GB's kick off (Annual 1-weeker and the CG/SAR), we'll be going to a poll based system to figure out what GB theme we're going to do next.

I'm too lazy to look through the thread.  Is there a Commandant for this GB?  Goober?

If you don't get a volunteer, Commisar, I'll report for duty as a "draftee".

It will be a pleasure to have you play along, Nils! I've sent the Group Build Commisar a note and I'm sure he'll have everything ready to go in time. Kudos to Gooberliberation for offering up the prize!

Now I hope it's just because it's early in the morning and the grey matter isn't revving up yet, but it could just be I'm being really thick, but when does this GB start and finish? ;D ;D
