A bright day! The AdA air base at Mont de Marsan (named Colonel Rozanoff in honor of Dassault test pilot killed in 1954 while testing a Mystere IV) host the CEAM (Centre d'Essai Aerien des Materiels) which is, basically, the place where all new aircrafts in the AdA inventory enter squadron service (before reaching full IOC).
since January 2005, the CEAM host the very first AdA Rafale squadron,
to teach St Dizier staff to the Rafale.

Since I'm a kid I heard of the open day, but could never see the show. This open day didn't took place for 9 years... before last sunday  ;)

I've made a whole bunch of photos (120 or so) and videos, and was burned by the harsh sun (according to a french forum I'm not the only one    = my actual color)

I'd never heard a F-16 before, but this Dutch pilot changed this. Nearly lost my eardrum, the AB shaked the hangar behind my back. Awesome feeling.

A whole bunch of Mirage, Tornado, singapore A-4s (hosted in Cazaux since 1998 for training)  Swiss F-18s, warbirds, fire bombers, C-17, some helos... and the patrouille de france to close the show...

Cool weather, truly a miracle considering it rains continuously for 4 weeks now, including today  :banghead:

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Captain Canada

Awesome stuff, Archie ! Great work with the camera...as long as it's not pointed into the sun !

:P

Must have been nice to see all of those fast jets together....especially all the fighters from your own country. The Rafale is simply stunning.....just looks the part of a killing machine !

I really liked the line up shot of the C-17, the CL-415 and the two Turbo Trackers. A bunch of my favourite a/c in one pic !

Thanks for sharing !

Wasnt there an ARC article, about someone who had visited the airbase they are based at, and wasnt even allowed to look at the cockpit, but was allowed to take photos of one that was in the maintenance?

Archibald

Glad you enjoyed the pics guys!! I thought of you ;) all the day.

I really enjoyed the F-16 demo...

Yeah, F-16s can be noisy beasts as I well know.  In full burner, a F-16 on takeoff will trigger car alarms all over Lockheed's parking lot here.

Great pics, Archibald!  Thanks for sharing them with us.  Now, forgive my ignorance, but can you please tell me what this intriguing little airplane is?

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

elmayerle

Got a question, would the colors of that A-1 be applicable to an OV-10 operated in support of the French Army?
