All the parts have arrived for my Halifax with Bofors guns anti-Flak What-If. As it's really an early form of a 'Wild Weasel', I've entitled it the "Startled Stoat"  :D

Full build to follow.

PS Does anyone know where the wing spars run in the Halifax? I need to ensure there's vertical room for the Bofors in the fuselage...

Hi Blue, the main spar is at roughly one third chord from the leading edge iirc. i'll have a scout through my books and see what i can come up with.

bestest.

Cheers Greg, I can't find a Halifax cutaway anywhere amongst my reference books - and I have quite a few!

Not a Flustered Ferret, or a Pissed-off Polecat???

There's a small pic on this site, but it clearly shows the wing spar on a cutaway view.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Aha, further forward than i remembered, sorry bout that,

Thanks, that's useful.

Flustered Ferret, or Pissed-off Polecat are excellent names too. Maybe for the Lancaster and Stirling version - with bigger guns....

I see another role for this bird, as a ship buster. would scare the credentials out of the Kriegsmarine gunners  ^_^

its nice to see handley page getting a bit more coverage hereabouts! good concept
and i hope your execution of such works out ok.

hmm, if you used it as a MR a/c, you could include a flarechute somewhere. RAF
sunderlands used something simliar and they came in handy when sinking U-Boats.

still, the pissed off polecat is an ok name. the flustered ferret sounds more like one
of those dodgy modern pub names.

Furious Ferret was another idea.  Funny you should mention Pubs Trev, they came to mind from a bottled ale I picked some time ago called 'Fursty Ferret'.  On opening it I understood were they got the name from, it had a very 'interesting' aroma, kind of like the smell of damp dogs!  Tasted great, stangely, but was quite a weird brew!

Hmm, looking forward to see the full fleet, what kind of guns are you putting on the Stirling & Lanc???

Interesting concept, I'll look forward to following the progress.

As for the name, well racoons are members of the weasle family, so you could go for something like "Rabid Racoon", no?

A tad American the Racoon. But maybe it'll fit the B24 version...

Being British, how about 'Mildly-Miffed Marten'???  'Peeved Polecat' would be a very British varition on 'pissed-off' too!
