Hobbyboss Kits

Today I got my latest order from Squadron which included two Hobbyboss kits, the Bf 109G-10 and Fw 190D-9 (both 1/72 scale).
I was very surprised by the excellent packaging and the very fine detail these kits have, the Bf 109 kit comes with TWO complete wings, one with the small wheel bulges and the other with the large wheel bulges. Both wings are in one piece, so no worries about thick trailing edges or sanding seam lines on the leading edge!
The fuselage on both these kits are molded in such a way that there there is no seam line to clean up and the seat and joystick are already molded inside. I dry fitted the wing to the fuselage on the Fw 190 and it was a perfect fit, this was even a better fit than the Amtech Ta 183 I built two years ago. Good decal sheets too.
One area that was bogus was the recommended camo colors on the Fw 190D-9...they claim RLM 66 dark gray instead of the correct RLM 76 for the undersurface color.

These Hobbyboss kits will be very good for the beginning modellers or people like myself who like getting to painting/weathering stage of model building ASAP.
They make plenty of Allied planes too!

Very true.

And their range now extends to some pretty impressive kits for the experienced builder as well.

Their 2-seat N/AW-10 Warthogs in 1:48 are phenomenal!

In a similar vein, I'm still trying to buy Kinetic Kits' completely new-tooled 1:48 F-84F's with engraved panel lines but the Taiwanese point-of-sales site I normally use for HobbyBoss (and Kinetic Kits) products just had their PayPal account suspended due to the sudden spike in sales transactions and I'm not too keen on sending my VISA account info directly to them.

If anyone knows where I can get the Kinetic Kits' F-84F's in North America, please advise.  Have a look at this kit:

JHM,

Willing to take a US site that only takes checks?

If so, then check out KPL Systmes. Ken LaSala carries or can get both Hobby Boss and Kinetic.

I agree, the other day I received a Bf-109 with Romanian decals and an F6F, both in 1/72.  I was very impressed; they look great, were very easy to build and were ready for paint and decals in no time (my favorite part).  I plan to order all they have in 1/72; hopefully there will be more in the future.

Here are some pics of what you get in these kits.

Check out the clean wing root area and how the seat is already molded in the fuselage.

This is the Fw 190D-9 undersurface, the wings are just clicked into place for this picture so you could see how well the parts fit. On the wings the ailerons have the fabric detail overdone (an easy fix with some Mr. Surfacer 500) and the pitot tube was bent on my example.

Here is the Bf 109G-10 and in this pic you can see the extra set of wings supplied and also the joystick can be seen in the cockpit. I have not built this kit yet but it appears to be much better than the Revell and Airfix kits, not perfect, but better.

For the price I think these are great kits and will help the hobby by providing new modellers with an easy to build kit that still looks good when finished.

Just beware of the color call outs in the instructions, both these kits would have you put RLM 66 (the color for German cockpits) on the undersurfaces!  And what the h*** is ''RLM 8'' anyway?
Also the JV 44 Fw 190D-9 is shown in the instructions with red prop blades!

Now if Hobbyboss would only make a kit of the Ju 388....

Wow, a great-looking kit by any right but even better when you take into account that HobbyBoss kits are really "econo-class" kits, pricewise.

Good for them!

I've been wondering what they look like.   Very nice.

The P-40M I got for the GB is a lovely kit, the surface detail is fantastic.  The fuselage halves & a couple of other parts needed a bit of filler, but nothing more than usual.  The parts align very well, just there's a slight gap.  The intake may be a little on the deep side, then again it might just be me & I'm not going to take a ruler to it.  The cockpit only has the stick & seat for detail but I'm not that bothered.  I'm getting very picky here as it's such a nice kit & I'm used to much more being wrong!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Have to agree re - Hobby Boss. They ae ideal kits for when your'e stuck in one of "those" grooves

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Got lots.
The Fw-190D hasn't joined the collection yet, but it needs to. Perhaps using some of those nice Croation decals?

Months ago I read where Hobbyboss will also release kits of the Me 262 and He 162, anybody know when?
I want them, no change that, I NEED THEM.

Thanks for sharing info and pics Matrix :)   I've been curious about the quality on these as well. For the price looks like a pretty good value.

In the same order I just got from Squadron not only were the two Hobbyboss kits in it but also a P.E. Zoom set by Eduard for the Fw 190D-9. For the price of the Hasegawa or Tamiya Fw 190D-9 kits it is almost equal to the price of the Hobbyboss Fw 190D-9 kit with the Eduard Zoom P.E. set included...the Hobbyboss kit has better fitting parts and will build up much faster and look just as good or better than the Tamigawa kits.

After I get finished with my He 100 H-1 project I will do a quick build of the Hobbyboss Fw 190D-9 and post in-progress pics so others can see what these new kits are like. I want to find out too!

W H A T !!!!

I didn't even know they were doing a Thunderhog ! - If that means that the Revellogram one drops in price even further, then I can get one to Whif into a Royal Auxilliary Air Force one......  ;) , Then build the HobbyBoss as a 'straight' West German/Belgian/Dutch one.
