i dont know if anyone mentioned this yet, but there are more big screen whiffs,

-the N.Korean BK117 in "Stealth"
-the Russian H-21 in "Godzilla"
-the USAF F-18's in "the rock"
-the isreali F-18's in ID4
-the french MI-8 and SH60 in "behind enemy lines"
-and the german P-51B in Iron Eagle III
-and there was an old movie "forgot the name" withWW2  japanese T-28's

oh yeah, almost forgot, there was a Soviet UH-1C in an episode of the A-team (witch was supposed to represent a Hind MIL-A-10)
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

This occurred in Raise the Titanic, also, IIRC.

QuoteAnd it looks like there's a fair bit of aviation action in the new Die Hard 4: Live free or Die Hard, including an F-22 flown through overpasses (& of course, blown up) by McClane!  Yippee-ki-yay Mother F****r!

Simon, its a F-35B, not F-22...

A DC-3/C-47 could be used as a stand in in a film about the sinking of the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse ;)  You know, acting as Betty torpedo bombers ;)
In my defence I had to work it out from about a second & half of footage!
Try this trailer, much better footage of it ;)  :)

Same trailer mate from the looks of the extension, guess we're both having less than perfect days!

Cheesy as hell, but I can't wait to see it!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

There was a M8 Greyhound armoured car in the midst of US Army vehicles in "Godzilla" movie (the US one) as well.
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

Then again, there are those thouroughly modern destroyers/frigates sitting in Pearl Harbour as it gets bombed in the forgettable movie by the same name.   :banghead:

There is a USS Salem as Graf Spee in Battle of River Plate, and I think some Indian ships representing Ajax or Achilles.

Baldrick: I followed Mr Da Vinci's instructions to the letter.
Blackadder: Even though you can't actually read.
Baldrick: No, but I have done a lot of Airfix models in my time.

An F-35 w/ dual gunpack noless!

In the Guns of Navarone, the nazies drive M8 Greyhounds :D

And in Force 10 from Navarone, they drive T-34s that float like models :D

The latter wasn't really a whiff as the INS Delhi, which was used in the film, had previously been Achilles before being transferred to India.
Exeter was played by Jamaica and Ajax by Sheffield, which makes the whiff Harwood had three 6inch cruisers rather than two and an 8inch.
Cumberland in an almost disarmed state also played herself towards the end of the film.

Watched 'Battle of Midway' last week and it did have lots of potential whiffs. Such as Hellcats standing in for Wildcats and Buffaloes, and Avengers standing in for Dauntless during carrier take offs.
It also had the usual hilariously inappropriate stock footage, some of which was taken from 'Tora, Tora, Tora', and sequences when aircraft change types (Devastator to Hellcat).  :D

The Nazi's also use M47/48 tanks!

"Pearl Harbor" used rows of Perry & Knox class FFG's during the bombing sequences.  "PH" was just so offensive in so many ways, it gives me the cinematic-willies just thinking about it.    :ill:   A girlfriend at the time wanted to go see it so...

Agreed.  With CGI in existance and plenty of destroyers and frigates closer to the time period in question fully restored (USS Kidd in Baton Rouge for example) all around the country, the film makers had no excuse in bungling the movie.   :banghead:

I think that the film makers are either A: lazy, or B:  they assume film goers are to stupid to notice that ships, or aircraft are wrong in a film.

I have to agree, more CGI and more research wouldn't have hurt Pearl Harbor.Lats face it,I know those B-25s weren't really bombing Tokyo or any part of Japan for that matter,so why didn't they CGI the Japanese attack too? Sadley, they did to Pearl Harbor what was done to Titanic.Take a very sad moment in history, add a tragic romance, heroism, drama, the doomed best buddy...etc.However Titanic at least had Kate Winslet going for it.That in and of itself made it watchable to me not to mention a better stoyline too,and generous CGI action.
